Forest View Cabin at Vaadi near Auli Joshimath

Waking up to Nanda Devi through the glass is what guests write about most. Birdsong, mountain air, and a fire in the evening. We built this cabin ourselves, beam by beam. Your room and bathroom are private. The living room and kitchen are shared with us and, at most, one other couple. Home-cooked food all day, forest trails from the door, Mushi the Husky for company. The road ends below the village, so the last 25-30 minutes is an uphill walk and we carry your bags. The space A glass-walled cabin at 2,400 m above Badagaon, 7 km from Joshimath and 14 km from Auli. Every beam and fixture was carried up by hand or by mule. Floor-to-ceiling glass on two sides, wood-panelled walls, a king bed facing the snow peaks. Private bathroom and entrance, a desk and Jio AirFiber wifi for workations, fire chimney and heaters for winter. Skiing at Auli (Dec-Mar), Gorson Bugyal and Kuari Pass treks, Badrinath and Mana, Valley of Flowers in season, forest trails from the door. Guest access Private entrance - come and go as you please. Your bedroom and bathroom are yours alone; the living room, kitchen and garden are shared with us and, at most, one other guest room. Our chef cooks from a menu (charged separately) and we keep the kitchen stocked, so you can also make tea or something simple yourself. During your stay We live here, so this is a proper hosted stay — around for whatever you need, happy to leave you be when you don't. Our in-house chef cooks fresh, local, home-style meals through the day. Beyond the house, we set you up with the good stuff: forest trails right from the door, treks with Amaru (our friend from the village), bonfires, cabs, and a full day-by-day plan if you want one. One bag per person (to 15 kg) carried free; extra or heavier bags Rs 400 each way. Not suited to limited mobility. SLEEPS: 2 in a king bed, plus a third on a mattress at an extra charge. FOOD: our chef cooks Pahadi, North Indian, Chinese, continental. Breakfast Rs 600, lunch Rs 700, dinner Rs 700, full day Rs 1,800 pp. ALSO: wifi is fine for calls; mobile network drops at times.
