Description

Follow a winding driveway to your own mountain retreat on 166 private acres. No neighbors–just forest, near and far mountain views, and the tranquil sounds of birdsong and stream. Yet you’re only 10 minutes to Williams College/Williamstown, The Clark, and 20 minutes to Mass MoCA. Enjoy the cliffside hot tub, wood stove, and miles of private trails. Lovingly renovated over the last 3 years, it’s the perfect escape for quiet, comfort, and relaxation. The space About the Cabin & Setting Our cabin is tucked into a remote mountain setting, offering privacy, big views, and a true sense of escape. In winter, getting here is part of the adventure: a four-wheel-drive vehicle with snow tires is essential, and the driveway is steep and winding. We work with a reliable plow service, though weather always has the final say in mountain life. If your stay requires guaranteed early-morning departures each day, this setting may feel a bit too off-the-grid - but if you enjoy slowing down and leaning into the rhythm of nature, you’ll feel right at home. Like many mountain cabins, we use a private well for water. It’s dependable, but low-yield, which simply means it replenishes more slowly. We ask guests to be mindful with water use - think shorter or staggered showers and limited laundry during your stay. If you notice a dripping faucet or running toilet, please let us know right away so we can keep everything flowing smoothly. ⸻ Inside the Cabin You’ll enter through a spacious mudroom - the true heart of mountain living - with plenty of room for coats, boots, towels, and hiking gear. Just beyond is the main bathroom, complete with a bathtub and shower, fully renovated in 2025. In fact, most of the home has been lovingly updated over the past three years while we’ve lived here, so nearly everything you’ll use feels fresh, thoughtful, and new. The first floor features an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living space, centered around a cozy wood stove. The kitchen includes a gas range and oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, and a large working island. The dining table seats six comfortably (or eight cozily), with two additional stools at the island. Also on this level is a bedroom with a queen-size bed and generous closet space. Upstairs, you’ll find two additional bedrooms. The east-facing room offers expansive mountain views and includes a double bed, couch, dresser, and dedicated workspace. The west-facing bedroom features a double bed and dresser, with views of the Green Mountains and our beloved whispering pine. Both rooms have an additional twin mattress tucked beneath the bed if needed. The ground-level bonus space is a favorite for many guests. With full-size picture windows facing east and a walkout to the stone patio beneath the deck, it stays cool and shady on warm summer days. This open space includes a queen-size bed, a full bathroom with shower, and a drum set and keyboard - perfect for making a little music without worrying about nearby neighbors. The area is set up for play and relaxation, with mats, cushions, toys, games, and books. ⸻ Comforts & Utilities A whole-house generator keeps everything running comfortably no matter the weather, and two underground propane tanks ensure you’ll never run out of heat or cooking fuel. ⸻ Outdoors & Nature The surrounding 166 acres are yours to explore: winding streams, mountain views, hiking trails, and quiet woodland surprises. If you’d rather stay close to the cabin, soak in the hot tub, swing beneath the whispering pine, roast marshmallows by the fire, or simply relax and take in the scenery. Being immersed in nature does mean the occasional tiny visitor may find their way indoors - overwintering ladybugs, seed bugs, or the occasional summer fly. It’s all part of mountain living, and we do our best to keep the cabin clean and comfortable for your arrival. ⸻ We’ve found deep peace and restoration in this mountain retreat and are truly excited to share it with you. We hope you feel the same sense of ease, wonder, and connection during your stay. Guest access Guests have full and private access to the house and land. The garage is locked and used for storage. Other things to note Vermont winters bring stunning snow-covered mountain views, but they also come with challenges – especially when you can’t spend the day by the fire with a good book. A 4WD vehicle with snow tires is essential; this is truly an adventure home. If you need to leave early each morning, our remote mountain setting may not be the best fit.
