Description
Experience island living with all the comforts of home in this modern cottage finished in 2025. Wake up in your king size bed to a different view every morning as the tide transforms the landscape from the ocean floor to a 30-foot deep harbour. Watch the wildlife put on amazing shows while you relax or bbq on the wraparound deck. Catch the sunset from huge picture windows or soak in the tub after a long day exploring the acres of private land that surround you. The space This handbuilt cottage was finished in 2025 and sits on a large swath of private land. Featuring modern comforts including a spa bathroom, full kitchen, washer & dryer and reliable wifi, you won't miss much except the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world. The main floor consists of kitchen, sitting room, bathroom, dining area and laundry, with a wraparound deck looking over the harbour. The upper level is accessed with a slim spiral staircase, with a ship's block and tackle to help bring items like suitcases up and down. Upstairs features a king sized bed, TVs(2!), and space for work or exercise. Guest access You will have access to the whole house and surrounding property on the shore-line side of the driveway, with no visible neighbours and water surrounding you 270 degrees. The driveway is shared intermittently. Adjacent sheds are private to the owners. Other things to note Deer Island is only accessible via ferry. The Lords Cove ferry is free and operates year-round, with departures from L'Etete, NB every half-hour until 7:30pm and then hourly-on-the-half-hour (8:30, 9:30, 10:30) until the last ferry at 10:30pm. The Campobello ferry operates seasonally and costs $20 Canadian Dollars per vehicle plus $5 per passenger. Passage either way is typically 20-30 minutes depending on the tide. The house is accessed via a 700 m/yd smooth gravel road. Sometimes in winter or poor weather it can offer challenges in traction, but most vehicles can easily navigate it. The upstairs loft is accessed via a narrow spiral staircase. Guests with mobility limitations may find this asks too much of them. The staircase is too narrow for larger items like suitcases. A block and tackle (pulley) system is in place to hoist these items upstairs. Basic safety precautions are needed for using this equipment, including but not limited to: not exceeding 50lbs, never standing underneath items being lifted or lowered, not allowing children to operate the pulley, and never using it for a person, pet or precious object.
