Description

Little Gum is a peaceful one-bedroom studio set on 10 acres of South Australian bush, just outside the Barossa and 10 minutes from Gawler. Perfect for couples seeking a quiet, restorative escape, solo travellers looking for distraction-free serenity, or families wanting to immerse themselves in nature, outdoor play, and a variety of animals. Fresh eggs from the chooks, coffee and tea- Little Gum is intended to be your home away from home. The space Welcome to Little Gum 🍃 The Space: The studio features a queen bedroom with block-out blinds and a sofa bed in the living area that folds out to a double. A cot, high chair, and baby essentials are available on request. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, stove, washing machine, barista-style coffee and pod machine. To make your stay extra comfortable, we provide fresh eggs from our chickens, milk, bread, and continental breakfast supplies, so you can ease into your mornings without needing to rush out. A Quiet Couples’ Retreat & Relaxed Solo Stay: Little Gum is perfectly suited to couples seeking a romantic, peaceful break, solo travellers visiting for work or leisure, or families wanting a calm, nature-filled getaway. With no traffic noise, fresh country air, and uninterrupted views, it’s a place to truly switch off. Couples love the cosy queen bed, slow mornings with coffee on the doorstep, sunset walks up the hill, and quiet evenings with a record playing and a glass of Barossa wine. Solo travellers appreciate the calm environment, practical layout, and homely touches — ideal for unwinding after a workday or exploring the region at your own pace. Nature, Animals & Outdoor Space: Surrounded by bushland, the property is home to three horses, including our friendly Shetland pony Cookie, who loves a pat. Alpacas live next door, and along the road you may spot sheep, goats, kangaroos, koalas, and kookaburras. We also have a very friendly golden retriever, Maple, who loves everyone — but if you’re not keen on dogs, just let us know. Guests enjoy peaceful walks along the quiet main road, with minimal traffic. A longer 30-minute walk to the top of the hill rewards you with stunning sunset views and a real sense of immersion in the landscape. Family-Friendly Touches: Little Gum is welcoming for families, with an outdoor swing set, slide, kids’ boat for imaginative play, and a sandpit. If staying with children, we’re also happy to provide a box of toys and a creative activity box for drawing, colouring, and making. Baby essentials can be arranged on request. Arrival & Orientation: As you enter the front gate, Little Gum is the first building you will see. The barn is visible from the end of the driveway, adding to the country charm. Access is via a lockbox, with the code sent on the day of arrival along with contact details for myself and my husband, Tom. While the studio is completely private, we are easily contactable by phone if needed. Our home is located at the top of the hill, allowing guests to enjoy peace and privacy while knowing help is close by.
