Description
Tanderra is set as a sanctuary for couples who need a break, to rest, relax and regenerate from the fast flow of today’s modern world. Enjoy and explore the surrounding beauty of the pristine wilderness where this once humble shack has been re-invented into a contemporary space nestled on a slope overlooking Little Lake Bay. Enjoy the lake views from the front verandah or indulge yourself in the outdoor bath on the private side deck. Alternatively read and relax by the fire with a glass of wine. The space Tanderra is nestled on a slope overlooking local holiday shacks where, from your elevated position, you can enjoy a glass of wine on the deck overlooking beautiful lake views or enjoy the outdoor bath on the private deck. The open plan living / dining area gives expansive outdoor views where the full kitchen melds seamlessly with the lounge. A smart TV is available, along with a combustion fire where, in the colder months, it will give an intimacy and warmth to the space. 3 steps lead to the raised bedrooms, both of which have sliding privacy shutters, allowing as much or as little privacy from the living area as required. The bathroom contains a deluxe double shower and access to the outside bath. In the evening the front deck will be the ideal place to view the stars with a glass of wine or, if too crisp, enjoy the view from the fireside behind the double glazed sliding doors in the living area. The lake is only a short 250 meter walk down towards the main road. Guest access There are stairs to the front sliding door otherwise you can walk up the right-hand side of the property past the outdoor bath to enter via the bathroom. For those with mobility concerns be advised the block is on a reasonable slope. Guests have full access to the house but not the garage. Mats will be at both entrances where you would be asked to kindly remove your shoes along with any stress you may have bought with you. Parking for vehicles is available in front of the garage. up to 3 cars can be parked in this space if maneuvered correctly. Other things to note Your accommodation is set up as an adults retreat and, although there are single beds available for extra guests, it is set up as a haven for adults to unwind. This house is fully off grid and therefore reliant on what the environment is able to supply; be it sunshine or rain. Solar power is the only source for electricity therefore we ask guests to be mindful when using electronic devices plugged in to power outlets. We don't provide appliances like hair dryers as they drain too much power and ask if you bring one with you that you don't use it at Tanderra. Smoking or vaping is allowed OUTDOORS only and it is asked that you remove your shoes when entering the house. The property is on a septic system, please do not flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilet, also do not pour oil, fat or grease down the kitchen sink as this clogs the pipes to the septic system. Please leave any oils or grease to cool then dispose of in the rubbish bin. Phone service can be limited in parts of the Central Highlands area. There is Wi-Fi connection on the premises but it is a satellite connection so can also be subject to disruption from weather and satellite position. The oven and cook top are operated by gas. Cooking utensils, stove top kettle, crockery, cutlery, glassware along with a French press are available. The stove grill is to be used for toasting bread. There are basic pantry items available (subject to use) but please come prepared with everything you may need as there is limited access to supermarkets and shops at Deloraine (35 minutes) or the nearest pub at Miena (25 minutes). If you use the last of an available item please drop the host a line or leave a note on the bench so it can be replaced. As the water supply is fully reliant on rainfall we ask for you to be mindful of your water consumption. The same water will help you indulge in the outside bath or to enjoy the opulent double shower but if using the outside bath only drain the water if you don’t intend to take a second dip. Heating for the home is a combustion fire. An allocation of firewood will be available for the basic 3 day stay (24 medium/large pieces) but it is advised you purchase kindling. The Thirsty Camel at Deloraine sells firewood and kindling. If you have newspaper bring it with you for lighting the fire. If you intend to stay longer YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN ARRANGEMENTS FOR FIREWOOD. Hot water bottles are available. The house overlooks a quiet local street where we would ask you to please respect the neighboring shack owners and their peace and tranquility. Weather conditions can change quickly. Snowfall, ice, fog and sleeting rain can occur any month of the year so please ensure you have enough supplies to last for your stay and maybe a day to two more in case you get snowed in. It is advised to check weather conditions before you leave and potentially prepare snow-chains and hire a 4x4 vehicle during snowfall months. During prolonged bad weather/ snowfall there is the possibility of road closures and the potential of needing to use the on-site generator due to reduced sun output causing reduction in solar charge. Ensure you notify your host if you have used the generator so fuel levels can be monitored and futures guests can be catered for. Breona is a wildlife conservation area and as such there is a plethora of local wildlife for you to enjoy however, it means you cannot bring pets. The area has excellent sealed roads and is viewed as one of Tasmania's largest holiday and tourist destinations along with world class trout fishing. Surrounded by world heritage conservation forest, the abundance of wildlife including Spotted Quolls, Wombats, Wallabies, Tasmanian Devils, birdlife like Green Rosellas, Currawongs and Red Breasted Swallows are among the regular day to day wildlife this neighborhood enjoys. Only a stone's throw from the Central Plateau’s beautiful Liffey Falls, Drys Bluff, Quamby Bluff and the Meander Valley there is everything you could need located within a place of serenity and beauty. Classified as a sub alpine area, with an elevation of 1,180 metres above sea level, snow falls of up to 1 metre regularly occur throughout the winter months. There are often furry friends on the road so please drive slowly, especially at night. We ask that you leave the land the way you found it. Registration Details DA2025/53
