Downstairs at The Old Mill

Relax and unwind surrounded by nature in Kent. Enjoy stunning views over the Weald and beautiful sunsets from your own private garden. Kick off your shoes and make yourself comfortable in this spacious self-contained apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and sitting room. You have your own entrance, there is plenty of hot water and home comforts and the large double bedroom leads out to the patio through French windows ensuring cosiness in winter and a cool breeze in the summer. The space Our house is a renovated windmill, the mill itself originally built in the late 18th century. The main house was added on to the then ruined mill base in the 1960s. You will find the original mill stones and some windmill tools in your garden as a reminder of a bygone era. We had half the ground floor turned into a separate apartment in 2025 which is where you are invited to stay. It has a large double bedroom and shower room, a fully equipped kitchen and dining area and a sitting room down a few steps from the kitchen diner. You have your own entrance with a private garden and patio. There are 2 small wildlife ponds in the garden which is why we can not have children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years staying. Parking is right outside the apartment on our private drive. Heating and cooking equipment is all electric. There is no gas boiler in the apartment. There is an adjoining door to the main house which will be kept locked when you are staying. We have 5 cats and 3 rabbits which you are welcome to interact with but we will try to keep them away from you unless you say otherwise. Because of our own animals (and occasionally sheep grazing in the field), we are sorry but we can not allow guests to bring their own pets with them. Guest access You have full use of the apartment and your private garden and patio. You are welcome to use any parts of the garden; the washing line is round the back for example. Other things to note I'm sorry about the no young children and no pets. We can't take responsibility for youngsters with the ponds so close by, and our rabbits and cats would not forgive us for allowing dogs anywhere near them. If you have a baby under 6 months who is not yet moving around, we are happy to have them to stay at no extra cost but please bring your own cot and equipment. A child over 6 years old is also welcome to stay in your bedroom at no extra cost. Please let me know and I can move a single bed into the main double room for you. You would be responsible for them around the ponds and they must not go into the field without one of us if there are sheep there. Any other queries, please do get in touch!
