Wren cottage is located in the heart of Thetford Forest. This stylish and luxurious studio apartment has direct access to the forest and is nestled next to the beautiful Lynford Lakes with it's own man made beach. This is popular with open water swimmers and paddle boarders. Lynford Arboretum is also right outside your door and is ideal for bird watching with wildlife in abundance. Well equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, double oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, hob etc. The Wren is self-contained and located within a beautiful shared walled garden set in over 1.5 acres and brimming with wildlife. The garden has well stocked borders, a stunning pavilion with seating, fire pit and bbq (please bring your own charcoal). No road noise and a good quality mattress means you will have a wonderful night’s sleep! There is a delightful Shepherds Baa cafe located on site and is open every day from 9 to 4pm. Lakes, rivers and endless walks are just a stone's throw away. Breathe the fresh forest air and immerse yourself in nature! Don't forget to pack your bucket and spade to enjoy Lynford Lake's own man made beach! Guest access Thetford Forest is full of nature and is off the beaten track. A car is a must, but we also recommend bringing your bikes to explore the forest and really enhance your stay! The property is next to Lynford Lakes and Arboretum (tree collection). You will have the entire property to yourself. Outside, you have access to the parking area and lawns and pavilion with its fire pit and some outdoor seating areas. We also have deck chairs for you to use. It is ideally located to explore Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. Sandringham and the North Norfolk coast are approximately 45 minutes away. Brandon train station is 4 miles away and has good links to the cities of Norwich and Cambridge. The delightful Shepherds Baa hut is onsite and serves a wide variety of drinks, pastries and cakes. Mundford village is only one mile away and is easily walkable. Within the village there is Browns which serves a lovely breakfast or lunch and the Crown which has a beer garden and serves great pub grub. The village also has a butcher’s shop, convenience store, fish & chip shop and farm shop cafe. There is ample free onsite parking. Other things to note Please be aware that we have a strict no pet policy at this property. Mobile phone signal isn’t great, you will get signal around the grounds but sometimes it can be patchy. It is best to enable wifi calling as the wifi is good. We are in the forest away from public transport so you are advised to have a car in order to make the most of your stay. There is a military training area close by so occasionally you will hear aircraft and training exercises in the distance. We politely request that you drive in and out of the drive at walking pace as we have two dogs and, although they are not often roaming free around the parking area, it is possible.
