Sweet studio in a recreation paradise! Clean, safe, warm and bright, with a fully furnished kitchen and bath and tiny gas fireplace. Private daylight basement space tucked in the woods a few minute's walk from the North Fork of the Nooksack River, on a small organic farm/homestead. It's a perfect home base for skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and eagle watching. Hosts are familiar with local recreation opportunities and can share tips! The studio is beautifully crafted and furnished, and full of light. The 3/4 bath has a heated floor and custom tile shower. Kitchen cabinets are made out of yellow cedar salvaged years ago and stored for this project. Window and baseboard trim are made of maple from our homestead. The kitchen is fully set up with a gas range, dishwasher, and plenty of room for two. It it always stocked with good coffee and teas! The new double bed and mattress are topped by a down comforter, and a tiny gas fireplace completes the cozy room. Outside, you are surrounded by nature. Our 10 acre homestead is a mix of woods, fields, orchard and gardens. Guests are welcome to tour the yard and farm, sample whatever is ready to harvest, have a fire in the fire pit, and generally make themselves at home. Guests will also have access to our washer and dryer if needed. We are normally at work during the day and outdoor-oriented when home. The privacy of our guests will always be respected. Our location in the Welcome Valley is a perfect base for recreation and relaxation. Activities like mountain biking, hiking, bird watching, or just skipping rocks on the river can all be accessed right out the door. People come from all over the region to see salmon and eagles November through February. For skiers and snowboarders, we are just an hour's drive from the legendary Mount Baker Ski Area. A WTA bus from Bellingham runs along Mount Baker Highway; the nearest stop is 2 miles away at Welcome Grocery. The Baker Bus is an option for getting to the ski area in the winter--they have several pick up sites along the highway. You will have your own parking space here at the Studio. The nearest full service grocery store is in Bellingham. If you plan on cooking you will want to bring supplies!
