The space The one-acre property in Miner’s Bay contains three dwellings: 1. The Main House – where your host Doug lives. 2. Shinglewood Cottage (Your Suite) - Doug’s 5-star guest suite. 3. The Barebones Bunkhouse (a separate listing) located on the high side of the property. Includes private use of outdoor shower, kitchen and outhouse. Shinglewood Cottage has two fully independent living quarters. Your private suite is completely self-contained, offering peace and privacy throughout your stay. The main house is home to Doug, the property owner, who is happy to say hello if you’d like to connect but also fully respects your space if you prefer a quiet retreat. History of Miner’s Bay: We are located in historical Miner’s Bay on the southeast shore of Mayne Island. Miner’s Bay was named during the 1858 Fraser River Gold Rush when prospectors stopped here en route to the mainland. By the late 1800s, it had become the Gulf Islands’ main hub for steamships, trade, and community life. Guest access The waterfront yard below is reserved for Doug and Shinglewood Cottage guests. Other things to note The seaplane docks a short walk away - an exciting sight and a true West Coast experience! If you need to dash off to the city, you can be back before dinner!
