Description

Welcome to Why Not Woodland Escape, a modern treehouse on 10 ½ private acres designed for dog-loving nature lovers seeking peace, connection & blurred lines between indoors and out. Custom floor-to-ceiling windows frame your view while the hot tub, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, screened outdoor living room, outdoor shower & private trail invite you to explore. Follow us on social for behind-the-scenes! 40 min to Chattanooga, 2 hrs to Nash & ATL, 10 min to hiking, & walkable to hang gliding. The space It was a cold Thanksgiving day in 2021 when my wife and I parked a new-to-us 20’ camper on the fresh graveled drive and said… Why Not? Why not uncover the view? Why not work hard to clear the land? Why not design a modern escape that blurs the lines between inside and out? And then ‘Why not’ turned literal as we uncovered countless knotty branches and logs in the shape of Y’s while chopping and hauling the timber. Why Not Woodland Escape was born. YO! For short. Every custom detail, from the built-in bar to the outdoor kitchen to the custom headboard in the master bedroom, we procured, designed, or made. Why Not is the perfect house for couples and friends who love connecting in the kitchen. Cooking is a joy, whether you’re in the well-stocked indoor kitchen with ample space, sharp knives, and a pass-through window to the outdoor living room, or taking advantage of the complete outdoor kitchen, using herbs from the garden, and dining alfresco. And option three? Going rustic with fire pit hot dogs and gooey s’mores. Rest comes easy in three peaceful bedrooms: a first-level king suite with deck access to the hot tub and outdoor shower, and a cozy queen and two XL twin rooms upstairs. Every bed is dressed with deluxe mattresses and 100% organic cotton percale sheets for that slip-right-in sleep. In the mood for some activity? Spend time in the indoor workout and game room with everything you need for a great sweat or great fun! Or hike the private and peaceful trail (nearly 1/2 mile) winding through the woods, complete with a seasonal creek and “eye spy” surprises. Dogs give it five stars! Speaking of, we love well-behaved pups and are happy to host them. To ensure a comfortable stay for everyone, we provide a dog bed (furniture for humans only, please), bowls, and of course, treats. There’s even a crate for anxious pups so everyone can relax. “The cabin and the surrounding scenery were even more beautiful in person than in the photos.” “If you’re looking for peace and grounding, this is the place for you. Listening to the trees sway in the wind was one of my favorite parts." "The hot tub, outdoor shower, and fire pit made everything extra relaxing. I also loved having access to the herb garden for cooking, which was right outside the front door." "Beds were comfy, and everything was carefully arranged to ensure all our needs were met.” “The kitchen was well stocked. Beautiful space and view. Hot tub was awesome to enjoy with the cold wind blowing. Very well decorated and clean. Loved our visit.” The area vibe: -- Cool hippie! You've come to a pocket of the mountain where interesting, nature-loving, and adventurous people live -- no banjo music here! Many have been hang gliding pilots for decades. Outdoor highlights: -- Shower -- Hot tub -- Screened living room with TV -- Kitchen with sink, fridge, prep space, and grill -- Seasonal take-what-you-need herb garden for cooking and cocktails -- Firepit and s'more sticks -- Nearly 1/2 mile private trail with a seasonal creek --Binoculars for wildlife and bird watching (and bird feeders and seed) -- 2 kayaks to use (ask us for great recommendations!) -- No light pollution or road noise -- Private and quiet -- Peaceful road walkable to hang gliding launch Indoor highlights: -- Well-stocked chef's kitchen with sharp knives, spices, & oil -- Duluxe shampoo & body wash provided -- Coffee, tea, filters, and sweeteners provided -- Game room with darts, ping pong, and games -- Workout room with weights, bench, mats, boxing bag, and pull-up bar -- Dedicated bar with ice bucket and barware -- High-speed fiber internet -- Dedicated workspace with a view -- Dog bed, treats, bowls, waste bags, towels, and blankets And most importantly, we strive to provide guests with 5-star experiences every time. Other things to note -- EVERYONE is welcome and celebrated at Why Not! And some housekeeping: -- We have a septic system, a well, and a water filtration system. You help keep them clean, flowing, and problem-free when you: + ONLY flush the 1-ply paper provided. I like deluxe toilet paper, too, but our septic doesn't, and she rules the house. + ONLY put toilet paper in the toilet and put EVERYTHING ELSE in the basket + Shower off lotions and oils before getting into the hot tub + Put all grease and food waste in the basket (no garbage disposal) -- No parties or events -- Six guests MAX -- No smoking of any kind inside -- Well-behaved and house-trained pups are welcome Thank you for helping and agreeing to these details before you book.
