Relax with family or friends at this cosy renovated cottage in Hoswick, Shetland. From this compact home you can enjoy the views over Hoswick bay, take a stroll down along the beach or around the small network of nearby walks. Hoswick is an ideal location for a quiet getaway with the added benefit of having easy access to a range of local amenities and facilities suitable for the whole family. The space The original cottage built in 1900 in a traditional Shetland style with a "but" and "ben" has been extended in recent years but still retains some of the old features such as thick stone walls along the back of the property. It is fully modernised and recently renovated with a well-equipped modern kitchen and dining table, able to seat 6 guests. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob , fridge-freezer as well as a washing machine and dishwasher. The living room is a well-lit south/south-easterly facing room with glass patio doors leading out onto a small balcony. The space has a very light feel with new furniture, wi-fi and smart TV installed. There is a small selection of games and books available in the property. The living room has a large sofa which can be converted into a double-bed for guest use, this allows for a maximum capacity of 6 guests in the property. There is also a travel cot available on request. There is a small private garden to the front of the property which features a mainly grassy area with access to a rotary washing line. Hoswick is originally a fishing settlement that developed largely in the 1800s, and is now better known for its tweed and knitwear production. The Hoswick Visitor Centre is a key attraction for visitors as it hosts exhibits of the textile and fishing history alongside a small cafe. There are also local knitwear and jewellery design shops in the area which attract tourists and visitors. Younger folk can enjoy exploring Hoswick play park, the stony beach or spot small fish in the burn (stream). Hoswick is only a short distance (approx. 10-15 mins walk) from Sandwick; there you have local amenities such as a well-stocked shop, post-office, public swimming pool, play park and access to the main bus route to Lerwick and Sumburgh. We are fully licensed to let our property, license no. SH00511F Guest access Guests have access to the whole property and small garden. Access to the building is via a set of concrete steps, this may not be suitable for everyone.
