Description
The Weaving Shed Studio is a small, very basic ground-floor apartment next to the glorious Weaving Shed Gallery, a private space which displays the work of the late Jeannette-Therese Obstoj. Jeannette loved Shetland and the restoration and refurbishment of the then-derelict Weaving Shed was carried out in her memory by the current owner, her partner Geoff. The studio apartment was designed as a simple retreat for creative writers and artists and is available to individuals and couples. The space Situated by the sea on the Hillswick shore, the Weaving Shed Studio is next door to the local community shop, handy for the licensed hotel and bar and a wildlife sanctuary. Note: It's small, there is little natural light, and there is only one sofa bed. However, some of Europe's wildest, most unspoiled coastal scenery is on the doorstep. Otters, seals and whales are often seen. The weather is always entertaining, often extreme. Please note that the sleeping arrangements are one sofa-bed in the main studio space. Access to the adjoining Weaving Shed Gallery will be kept locked - there may be exhibitions there during the day and occasional, (quiet) evening events which should cause no disturbance. Guest access Guests have exclusive use of one main studio area for living, eating and sleeping, and a private shower room. There is a washer/dryer, full cooking facilities and a television. Full wifi access is provided. Other things to note The studio has a comfortable sofa-bed, a table and chairs and a cooking area. Entrance is private, at the end of an alleyway, from a glass door, although natural light is restricted. Electric central heating ensures comfort all year round. There is an entrance to the gallery from the apartment which will be locked during your stay.
