Description
Please observe: The house is only for rent a few weeks in July/August each year. An ideal place if you want to disconnect from stress. Experience an idyllic Swedish old-fashioned cottage by the sea with comfortable amenities in a calm, green oasis of the Baltic. This beautiful house, originally built in the 1850's, has had a complete renovation to regain its charm. Sjöstugan - (means The Lake Cottage), is close to the sea, forest and wildlife. Welcome to a genuinely Swedish experience! The space Please be aware that the photos on internet/ G.Earth are from early 2011 - BEFORE the renovations! Perfect for a couple wanting to get away from it all and disconnect. Great for small families, a group of friends wanting some peaceful surroundings or the individual wanting some time to breathe. 2 bedrooms with a double bed in each and a sofa bed (sleeps two people) in the dining room. Guest access ABOUT THE HOUSE: This used to be the home to two families back in the 1800s. The whole property is renovated to support modern comforts but it still retains a lot of the lovely original details. It's a perfect place for someone who likes the nature and is happy to get far away from city life. There is no TV, but you can find a few English books in the library to read and some games to play. There's fibre for good internet/wifi as well. THE INTERIOR: 2 bathrooms: The main bathroom is light and comfortable with a bathtub and a shower and WC. The second, is also a laundry with a washing machine and drier. 2 bedrooms: Each set up with a comfortable double bed (one 180 cms wide and one 140 cms wide). The original old wooden floors feel great on your feet in sleepy mornings when you sneak up to go to the kitchen. KITCHEN: You will love the opportunity to have an old wooden fireplace (as well as an electric stove and oven), in the otherwise renovated and modern kitchen. The kitchen is well-equipped and you will find spices and some basic foodstuffs that you can use during your stay. The Dining room: a dining table for up to 6 people. This room is also where you can use the sofa as an extra bed (as it folds out to a bed). Corner room/living room: with 5.5 metres to the ceiling, two comfortable sofas and a charismatic cast-iron fireplace where you can light a fire on a chilly day. GARDEN AND SURROUNDINGS: No immediate neighbours, a large lawn where you can play games, pull out your table and BBQ for some social times or perhaps relax in the hammock by the birch trees? A simple seating area outdoors for meals. A coal BBQ to use during your stay- 2 adult bikes to use (with care) 1 girls' bike A small veranda by the kitchen where you can drink your morning coffee. Choose if you want to relax in the house, go for a hike in some dense forest or take the four minute walk down to the small, local marina. Enjoy the small area for swimming and suntanning. Chat to the locals that keep their boats here or maybe go for a paddle with the kayak (available to rent if you let me know). The stunning Swedish archipelago is just around the corner! 10 minutes by car you can visit the coastal small village Arkösund. In Arkösund you can play minigolf, enjoy a lovely meal at some of the restaurants, get on a tour on the ferry around the islands in the nearby archipelago or perhaps have a wine at the pub. For those enjoying golf, you can go by car to the castle of Mauritzberg. It takes around 40 minutes by car to get to the large zoo Kolmården. Kids normally like it a lot there! Other things to note The house is located in a valley, therefore the cellphone reception is not good inside the house. The wifi is good (fibre). I ask all guests to please respect the fact that there might be a fire ban during summer and to not use the BBQ if there's a fire hazard due to drought. In Sweden we don't wear shoes inside, so please leave your shoes as you enter the house! The wooden floors really don't like stones and dirt! There may be bikes to borrow, (you might have to pump the tyres), but you need a car to get to the house as well as to travel around. The closest bus stop is 5 kilometres away! What else... Oh yes: I'm sure you will love it! Everybody does!
