Key points: - The farm is a great base away from other tourists, but you're still close to all the tourist sites and hikes in the area. - If you want to "eat at home", you are welcome to use the fully equipped kitchen, with basics like coffee, tea, salt, sugar and cooking oil included, so are eggs and seasonal vegetables for the meals you cook here. - Free parking. The space This beautifully located farm has been in my family for generations. After taking over the farm I wanted to be able to offer people healthy, fresh food. After two years in the only fully organic farming school in Norway, I'm in the process of making it a living working farm with organic vegetable production, meaning no pesticides and a way of farming that builds a nutritious soil. Seasonal vegetables for the meals you cook in the house are included. I’m also focusing on renovating the houses to their former glory, but with a touch of the 21th century and modern facilities. This is a work in progress! :) so far with 3 bedrooms, kitchen, livingroom and bathroom renovated. However, there won't be any work on the house while you are present. The rooms may vary from the pictures, as they will continually be upgraded. Being situated on a shelf above the village, the location offers a nice view and fresh air in quiet surroundings. An excellent place for you to relax. Long Norwegian summer nights can be enjoyed outside overlooking the fjord and mountains. Perhaps with a nice glass of red or white and a barbecue? Barbecue and garden furniture are available for you. The farm is a great base away from other tourists, but you are still close to all the tourist sites and great hikes in the area. For a nice hike to see the the summer mountain pastures, with highly enjoyable scenery for smaller strolls and longer hikes further up the mountains, the old tractor road 50 meters from the house will lead you there . If you're lucky, you may encounter a curious squirrel or weasel, and even see eagles and falcons whilst listening to the rich birdsong. I often sit outside in the evenings listening to cat owls above me in the big birch tree, and sometimes a fox or two will play on the fields. One animal that you definitely can see, hiking or not, is the friendly goats, as goats outnumber humans in this area. From mid July the milkmaid Erna lives on the summer farm and makes wonderful goat cheese. I recommend that you visit her for a tasting, and maybe purchase the goat cheese which Undredal is “famous” for. Welcome to Hjødlo gard!
