Open daily, it offers a peaceful, scenic atmosphere by the Godavari river, particularly popular for its Deepotsav festival. • Shree Someshwar Temple This temple is on the way to Gangapur dam, at a distance of 8km from Central Bus Stand. This is a temple of Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman on the banks of river Godavari. The area is covered with greenery, with a pleasant climate. Tourists can take pleasure of swimming and boating in the river. Someshwar has been a favorite location for many a film shootings. On the way to Someshwar, there is a village named Anandwalli. It is so named because Peshwas – Anandibai and Raghobadada, lived there for some time. His ancestral home, known as Savarkar Wada, is located in this town, situated about 22 km from Nashik city and 4 km from Deolali. • Khandoba Tekdi (also known as Khandobachi Tekdi or Temple Hill) is a prominent, scenic hillock located in the Deolali Cantonment area near Nashik, Maharashtra. Known for its peaceful environment and religious significance, it is a popular spot for bird-watching, morning walks, and viewing sunrises and sunsets. The temple is dedicated to Lord Khandoba, an avatar of Lord Shiva. According to local lore, Lord Shiva took the form of Khandoba to destroy two demons, Malla and Mani. After defeating them, Shiva rested on this hill, which is why it is also known as "Vishram Gadh" (place of rest). Historical Significance: The temple is believed to be over 500 years old. Some legends suggest Shivaji Maharaj reste1d here while traveling north. ----------------- VANI ----------------------------------- • Saptashrungi or Saptashringi (Marathi: सप्तशृङ्􀍬ग, Saptaśrr̥ṇgī) at Vani is a site of Hindu pilgrimage situated 60 kilometres (37 mi) from Nashik in Indian state of Maharashtra. According to Hindu traditions, the goddess Saptashrungi Nivasini dwells within the seven mountain peaks. (Sapta means seven and shrung means peaks.) It is located in Nanduri, Kalwan taluka, a small village near Nashik in India. The Marathas and some Hindu tribes have worshipped the goddess from a long time and some worship her as their kuldaivat. There are 510 steps to climb the gad. To go from below to the temple, the temple trust has also provided the facility of a furnacular trolley. Its work started in July 2018. There are a total of 6 coaches in this trolley, and 10 passengers can sit in one coach. This trolley takes 3 minutes to reach the temple. Passengers have to climb 20 to 25 stairs to go from the station above the trolley to the temple. This trolley carries about 5000 passengers every day. Devotees visit this place in large numbers every day. The temple is also known popularly as one of the "three and half Shakta pithas" of Maharashtra . The temple is also one among the 51 Shakta pithas located on the Indian subcontinent and is a location where one of Sati's (wife of Lord Shiva) limbs, her right arm is reported to have fallen. Its half shaktipeeth among three and half shaktipeeth of Maharashtra. ---------------- TRIMBAKESHWAR ------------------------- • Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple (श्री 􀅧यंबकेश्वर ज्यो􀇓त􀍧ल􀉍ग मं􀇑दर) is an ancient Hindu temple in the town of Trimbak, in the Trimbakeshwar tehsil, in the Nashik District of Maharashtra, India, 28 km from the city of Nashik and 40 km from Nashik road. It is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and is one of the twelve jyotirlingas where the Hindu genealogy registers at Trimbakeshwar, Maharashtra are kept. The origin of the sacred Godavari River is near Trimbak. Several Hindu rituals are carried out in Trimbakeshwar, for that pilgrims travel from all over India. • The Kusavarta kunda (sacred pond) in the temple premises, built by Shrimant Sardar Raosaheb Parnerkar, who was the Fadnavis of Indore State, is the source of the Godavari River, the second longest river in India. A bust of Sardar Fadnavis and his wife can be seen on the edge of the kunda. Parashurama, being an obedient son, separated her head from body. The head landed in Chandwad while the body fell near Mahur.
