Description
This is a traditional Irish farmhouse built over one hundred year ago for our grand parents. While it has been extensively renovated to include modern appliances and heating it still retained many of the original features and the charm of a traditional cottage. It has 2 beautiful stone fireplaces and a traditional half door entrance at the front . This cottage is on the coast road and has magnificent views of the Atlantic ocean and the unique limestone mountains of the Burren. The space The cottage consists of the original farmhouse building with an extension which accommodates the kitchen and additional bedrooms. The main living and dining rooms are in the original farmhouse with traditional open fireplaces in both rooms and a warm cottage feeling. The kitchen is large and modern with all necessary appliances. It also has an additional dining table and chairs so you can relax watching the Atlantic ocean and Galway Bay as you dine. The kitchen has large glass doors opening out to the patio area to the rear and overlooking the ocean, beach and Galway Bay. The farmhouse is on its own grounds and not overlooked front of back. With just one field between the house and the sea it has spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean and Galway Bay. There is patio furniture to the rear so you can sit outside and watch the spectacular sunsets over Galway Bay. Guest access When this was our parents and grand parents home it was a farmhouse and today our farming activities are still carry on close to this cottage where we have our farm and other farm buildings to house our animals when needed. There is a roadway and wall separating the farmhouse from the farm. You will have an opportunity to see the farm and the animals if you wish. The property has a walled garden with ample private parking for a large number of vehicles. Other things to note While we do recommend having a car to get the most out of your trip to the Burren, the bus to Galway (to the north) and Ennis (to the south) stops just outside the door and operates 4 times a day. Many of the popular tourist attractions can be accessed from this bus route, details of which are in the cottage. All bed linen and towels are provided as are cots and high chairs on request and free of charge. The only additional cost will be oil and electricity which are metered and charged on departure.
