If you are looking for a place to get away and relax, our house on Molasses Pond may be a good fit for you/your family. It is a hidden gem down a dirt road away from hustle and bustle. Peace and quiet is what you’ll find, along with a gorgeous view. It’s a great place for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, grilling, fishing, and laying on the hammock. We try to provide you with all the necessities you may need and are happy to answer any questions. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! The space This location is an hour from Bar Harbor and a little over a half hour to Ellsworth (which is the nearest town with grocery stores, T.J. Maxx, and restaurants). If you stay, you will need a car to get from place to place. There's a lot of driving in this neck of the woods to get anywhere, but sometimes being off the beaten path is the best place to vacation. Expect ice on the pond if you stay from January to mid-March or mid-April. During this time of year, there is not much to do beside icefish, skate (if there's no snow), snowshoe, or cozy up in the house with a good book or some board games. TV and Starlink wifi are available. During the warmer months, the lake is good for swimming and fishing. We've caught beautiful brown trout and salmon from this pond. There's a grill for Barbecuing. Hiking is excellent in the area. (You still have to drive to get to any hiking trails). There are mountain recommendations in the binder in the house. I'd also be happy to give tips based on what you're interested in. We have kayaks available for you to use. Fall is an amazing time to see the leaves at peak here! The colors are absolutely stunning, making it leaf-peepers paradise if you hit it just right. If you are looking to hunt, there's miles of dirt roads and plenty of woods. For moose hunting, we're in zone 28. If the sky is clear, sunsets are always beautiful here! Note: There is no bathtub, only a shower. There is one king size bed upstairs with no door to the upstairs, and a pull out futon in the living room downstairs. There are doors with locks on both bathrooms. The half bath is located upstairs and the full bath is located downstairs. Pet friendly :) Guest access The entire house and the beach directly in front of it is all included for the guest who rents the space.
