Description

Come stay in our cute tiny house caboose in beautiful Joseph, Oregon. We've converted the caboose into a comfortable self-contained tiny house complete with kitchen, shower, and toilet. We can accommodate up to 4 adults with one double bed and two twin bunk beds. PLEASE READ THROUGH THE FULL DESCRIPTION BELOW FOR DETAILS. The space The Caboose is located at “The DEPOT Place” - a community oriented multi-space farm-stay that features unique lodging, artisan roasted organic coffee and teas, herb gardens, tea parties (coming soon), a labyrinth walk(coming soon), miniature goat babies and their mommy, chickens(who enjoy their very own "chunnels" -wire mesh tunnels that run the perimeter of a garden), and a yurt for classes, meditation, dance, and retreats as well as hosting live music and events throughout the summer. Our place has a Historical Train Depot building on the property. It was built in 1906 and previously located in Enterprise, Oregon until it was moved in 1980 to its present location- one mile north of the town of Joseph, to serve as a personal residence. The Caboose is completely self-contained with a small fridge, electric stove top burners, table and stools, a shower, linens and towels, cooking utensils, air conditioner, heater, and an RV style toilet room. There is one main bedroom that includes a full-size bed with a memory foam mattress. There are two twin bunk beds which are separated from the main bedroom with drapery. The bunk beds are higher than usual (see photos), so we have “bumper boards” available for younger guests. The caboose also has a large covered deck for guests to hang out on and enjoy our beautiful sunsets. We have a community area where guests can use our firepit and charcoal grill. The RV toilet tank is pumped once a week-usually on Mondays. Our location is a mile outside of town, located on the main road into Joseph making it very convenient to get around and basically impossible to get lost, but the road can also be very busy during the day so please pull in and out of the driveway with extra care. We are somewhat rural in our location and have stunning views of the Wallowa Mountains and beautiful sunsets. The lobby of the Historic Train Depot now includes a commercial kitchen where "Dining Car Sushi" at the Depot, offers amazing Sushi rolls and appetizers. Their info and menu are found online. A history corner, and gift shop are also located in the lobby, where hand- crafted gifts, Depot T-shirts, and our Artisan Air-roasted Organic Coffee Beans are available for purchase. We are a creative family team with interests in gardening, herbs, sustainable farming, amazing food and drink, re-purposing, alternative building methods, and fun places to stay! We have been renovating and creating unique spaces for the past four years for our guests to enjoy. We are able to offer; The Caboose, The Great Outdoors Camp Trailer, and The "Fairy-tale" Shepherds Wagon for overnight lodging. A Tipi will be available July-Oct for daytime enjoyment and storytelling around the fire. We look forward to hosting your visit, and sharing our beautiful place ! Guest access Free parking is available onsite. Pull in the driveway and look for your parking space, indicated by a sign with your rental space name. We are somewhat rural in our location and have stunning views of the Wallowa Mountains and beautiful sunsets. We welcome you to enjoy our shared outdoor areas. We have a large backyard area with picnic tables, BBQs, fire pits, hula hoops, yoga mats, herb gardens, a labyrinth(coming soon), and various animals to enjoy: goats, chickens, our dog, sometimes a friend’s dog... We ask that guests please respect our private living space in the back of the Depot, the laundry room, barn/chicken coop, and please monitor children as there are areas that may be potentially dangerous for them. Other things to note We, unfortunately, cannot allow pets to stay. We do share outside space with other campers and ask that we all be respectful of one another. We do have family dogs that are onsite at different times...please let us know in advance if you are frightened of dogs so we can keep them secured and away from you. While each rental space is private, there are many shared outdoor spaces where people gather, events happen, and new projects are being created. Quiet hours at night are respected for everyone to enjoy a good nights rest. Please note that we do not allow smoking. Thanks !
