Located in the woods with a view over the lake Mälaren you can live in an off-grid cabin life. Take a break from the city's hectic life, go back to nature and enjoy Sweden in a unique way. We call the cabin "Bergabo" and really enjoy sharing it with people who appreciate the nature and the simple life as much as we do. The space This small house is without electricity and no running water, but has solutions that makes the stay comfortable. One should be prepared for simple standards. We love it, but it's not for everyone. There is one main cabin, with a cooking area and four beds, one double bed on the loft and two single beds in the main area. We cook on either over the fire/on the grill outside or with a smaller gas stove inside (you can bring it outside as well). You do the dishes in buckets with heated water from the stove. The toilet is a decomposing toilet, in an outhouse next to the cabin. Guest access When you stay in the cabin it is all yours. Just enjoy the nature, beautiful scenery, wildlife, books... A few kilometers from the cabin you have the farm Äleby Gård where you can buy local game meat and the village Stallarholmen has some smaller shops, a bakery and a proper grocery store. Other things to note The cabin life is simple and for the ones that love nature, cooking and hanging on the porch it is the best experience. We love it, and hope that you do as well. As it is an off grid cabin it is a bit different than an ordinary house with power and running water. There is a solar panel that provide with electricity for example your phone or other smaller devices. We nowadays have a drilled water well from where you can pump up water by hand, use that water for dishes, body cleaning and heat it for cooking. For drinking water we have a water purifier. In the winter it is cold and dark in Sweden, so is the cabin when you first arrive. With plenty of candles and some burning in the stove and if needed the gas burner you have a nice temperature.
