Description
The Daniel A. Anderson House: This beautiful 3,540 ft² Queen Anne/Eastlake Victorian home was built in 1885 with the finest victorian craftsmanship! We affectionately call it "The Queen.” Located in the Belle Grove Historic District, within walking distance of all the best Downtown Fort Smith has to offer: the new Marshalls' Museum, shops, music, Natl. Historic Site, River Park, bike/walking trails, restaurants, & more! Great for big families, couples, or solo travelers who love old houses! The space "The Queen,” once abandoned and in poor condition, has been given lots of love over the last decade. We invite you to enjoy the experience of staying in our historic home! Explore three levels of beautiful woodwork, stained glass, fireplaces, pocket doors, and stairways. Make your way up to the remodeled attic room, where you can enjoy Disney+ or YouTubeTv on a large flat screen, and serve drinks at a little kitchenette, or use it as a fifth bedroom to host more guests. Step out on the balcony to catch a glimpse of the moon or listen to the nightlife of nearby Downtown. Relax on the front porch and feel free to pick from the little vegetable & herb garden during the warm months, or pick some fruit from the fruit trees (peach, pear, fig, & apricot) when in season. A wood-burning fireplace in the living room will keep you cozy during the cold months, and you can get a taste of old-world living by firing up the antique wood-burning cookstove in the kitchen. This is our family’s primary residence, so everything is well-stocked and like a home away from home. Firewood is stacked inside for the fireplace, the kitchen is fully-stocked with appliances, pots/pans, server-ware, etc. A crib, high chair, family board games, children’s books, and plenty of toys are available as well! Keyless access available for easy check-in. Bedroom 1/Master - One queen and one trundle (twin bed), one crib Bedroom 2- two twin beds Bedroom 3 - One full-size (loft) bed Sunroom (Bedroom 4) – one queen (hanging) bed Attic room (Bedroom 5) – four twin beds and a futon sleeper sofa *we have a bed-height queen air mattress that can be placed in the bedroom with the loft bed or in the 3rd floor room or anywhere in the 1st floor. Have an especially large group? Check out our other listing for this house *plus* the carriage house that shares the same lot! Guest access The whole house is accessible to guests except for the basement and two closets. Other things to note Driveway parking available for three cars. (No garage or carport). There is central heat/air on the first floor, but on the 2nd and 3rd floor we use a combination of different gas heaters, gas fireplaces, window AC units and mini-split heat pumps which heat and cool the house very effectively. For the winter months, we have wood stoves that can be used for ambiance but aren’t necessary for heating the home. All wood stoves and gas heaters are hot surfaces that could burn you if you make contact. Guests should be aware of risk associated with heating surfaces, especially if there are children in your group, and make their own judgment call.
