The guests' space comprises the entire second floor of our house. It is both modern and vintage, full of whimsical details. it looks out east, south and north - as far as the Cascades. It is within walking distance to everything downtown. Please note that the space is NOT suitable for people with walking difficulties as there are 15 steps to negotiate! Also, our fairly big dog mostly resides in the living room/dining room area that you have to walk through and it is impossible to prevent them from greeting you and interacting with you whenever you walk through! The bedroom, the sitting room and the bathroom are on the second floor of our house. They are accessible through our downstairs dining room/living room. There is a little coffee(coffee maker/tea (electric kettle) station in the office with filtered water, organic coffee and an assortment of organic teas. The room has a full bed and a built in bunk bed. The many windows look out north (Guemes Island), east (Mt. Baker, downtown marina, the bay, the sun/the moon rising behind the Cascades, the rainbows) and south (Mt.Erie). The space is decorated with subtle marine details and acrylic paintings of the amateur Czech artist/host. It's cozy and very light. Watch the tankers and sail boats bob in Padilla bay. Head West by ferry from Anacortes to the San Juan Islands or drive East into the Cascade mountains for endless adventure and explore or just walk on down to the local tavern, grab a brew and catch up with a local fisherman or steel worker. See you soon. Travelers have sole access to everything upstairs including the dining space, bedroom, and bathroom. Space in our fridge for small Igloo bags or doggie bags is available. Washing machine/dryer available upon request. As able, guests will be provided with local directions. We will happily talk to you or leave you alone. Owners may or may not be on site. Quiet, unique old working class neighborhood by the sea. Quickly changing from rather run down to nicely redone. Easy to walk. Bus transit available. Local taxi service easy and inexpensive. One local Uber vehicle currently in town. Ferry jump off to San Juan Islands and British Columbia or our very local Guemes Island offering a nice easy hike to a stunning almost 360 degree view. All downstairs areas are off limits beyond passing front entrance to your quarters unless you need to put some items in the fridge. Please, leave your shoes at the entrance door. Thank you! The dog doesn’t go upstairs to the guest quarters, guests or not. The guest rooms upstairs are off limits to our dog.
