Enjoy the serene sounds of the rainforest and the unique opportunity to live close to nature and its fascinating wildlife. We're on the 2ND FLOOR of an old US NAVY house along the main road in Lower Cubi. There is one parking spot for Kahilom Nest in the front of the house. From the garage, the entrance is the glass and white wood door on the left. The famous FRUIT BATS of Subic Bay now live in the tree directly above our house, so you will see, hear, and smell them when you arrive. Kahilom Nest has a SPACIOUS living room, dining area, and well-equipped kitchen with a sliding door leading to a PORCH often visited by monkeys. It has three bedrooms: a Master Bedroom with an EN SUITE BATHROOM, a double room with two double beds, and a cozy room with a three-fourths bed. The living room is stocked with books, games, and NETFLIX. The Hallway Bathroom is small, but functional. The KITCHEN is spacious. There's a four burner stove for cooking, and a few pots and pans. There is a toaster, rice cooker, and a kettle and French press for your morning coffee. Guest access Kahilom Nest welcomes you into a SPACIOUS living room where you can enjoy reading or watching movies, leading seamlessly into the dining area and kitchen that comes with essential appliances, including pots, pans, a kettle, and a French press. The LIVING ROOF keeps the space cool, providing cozy nooks perfect for reading, blogging, or enjoying the treetops and fruit bats. When watching the bats for long periods of time, be mindful that their droppings might fall on your eyes or your mouth. The BEDROOMS are allotted ample beddings and towels. The KITCHEN is fully equipped (except a microwave) and includes self-service breakfast that includes SOURDOUGH bread, peanut butter with cacao, fresh fruit, eggs and our very own blend of premium local COFFEE. The water is potable, and most residents drink from the tap. You can also purchase The Nest by the Sea's CHAMPORADO via our shop. :) Just outside the kitchen, the BACK PORCH is an open-air lounge area, separated from our Cahaya Nest porch by a divider, so you may hear other guests while you are out there. This house is equipped with FIBER INTERNET with STARLINK as a backup. Because we live in such a woody area, sometimes our internet connections are disconnected by monkeys or falling trees. Kahilom guests can access a nearby POOL for a fee on weekdays only. A LAUNDROMAT, a couple of convenience STORES and a small EATERY are just up the hill from our Nest. VALUE ADDS: • Free self-service breakfast items • Porch access with exercise equipment • Exclusive perks from partner establishments • Discounts for 2+ nights • Baby crib and high chair available by reservation for a fee Other things to note THINGS TO CONSIDER: • Located in a rustic US Navy house, shared with 6 other separate Nests • 20 minutes drive from Subic Bay Freeport's central business district • Ideal for guests with vehicles, Subic Taxis can be pricey • Pets allowed after approval process, with a P500 pet fee • Extra guest fees apply after the first 4 guests WILDLIFE Our Subic Nests are surrounded by the rainforest, and are home to a variety of animals such as monkeys, bats, insects, birds and reptiles such as the very harmless gecko. While we can't guarantee total control of the wildlife, please reach out to us if you feel uncomfortable if they do wander inside your Nest, and we'll try to have this addressed in the soonest possible time. DISCOUNTS Our guests often regret not booking longer, so we've added in discounts for stays of 2 nights or more. The longer you stay, the bigger the discount. Treat yourself to that extra day! DAYTIME GUESTS We charge a daytime guest fee of P500 per guest. Please let us know if you will be entertaining guests in our Nest. PETS Guests with pets should coordinate with us and undergo a simple approval process when booking. This is to ensure the well-being and safety of all occupants of our Nests. CONDENSATION Due to the green roof we have installed on the house, and the high humidity in the area, when the air conditioners are on during the rainy season, condensation collects on the walls and ceiling of the bedrooms. To avoid this happening, we suggest guests limit the use of air conditioners, open the windows, and enjoy the cool rainforest air. SHOWER There is only one bathroom, and large groups tend to splash a lot! The shower design is not the best for messy bathers, so some water sometimes ends up on the wrong side of the bathroom. WORKSHOP We have a small workshop in the corner of the house, near the road. You may hear some minor work going on there in the weekdays, but it’s mostly used for storage. THE HOUSE Our home is an old US Navy-built house. The entire house is split into 6 AirBNB units. The house may be old, but it was built by the US Navy to withstand air raids. It's extremely sound, and newly renovated. REBOOKING In line with our firm cancellation policy, we do not allow rebooking less than 2 weeks before your stay. CLEANING AND SHEET CHANGES In our effort to reduce unnecessary use resources, cleaning and sheet changes are conducted every 3 days for longer stays. Should you want your sheets to be changed daily, this can be arranged for an extra cleaning fee. PETS Please CLEAN UP after your pets. For guests booked in Opal Building and Rainforest Nest, the Crown Peak Management is imposing a P5,000 waste fine in common use areas such as, and not limited to, hallways, parks and sidewalks within the Crown Peak area.
