Welcome to the Edge of the Wood Guesthouse: a unique, comfortable, family-friendly home full of charm and character. Located in Port Clements, this newly-renovated space is the perfect basecamp from which to easily explore all that Haida Gwaii has to offer. Scenic beaches, four famous fishing rivers, and all towns on Graham Island are within an hour of travel. Savour your seclusion, or join the Poschmann family as they convert their yard into a permaculture paradise. Winter stays welcome. The space Boasting beautiful reclaimed wood accents, large windows, and a vaulted living room ceiling, this space is instantly inviting on a sunny day with light streaming in, or on a rainy day with a fire going in the wood stove while rain patters on the tin roof. Two queen-sized bedrooms with space for a single mattress or pack-and-play, and a large living room, makes this an inviting place for couples or families. A leisurely 15-minute walk or short bike ride will take you into the heart of Port Clements, where you will find a family-owned grocery store, pub, library, park, and Sunset Trail. Complimentary tea, sugar and coffee. Complimentary farm-fresh eggs when available. Brand new appliances in a full kitchen. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house and private yard, with access to fire pit and firewood. You are welcome to keep to yourselves, or to spill out into our yard to visit us as we tend to the chickens, rabbits and garden. Ample parking for boats and trailers. Bikes available to borrow. Sandbox with toys for children, as well as a spacious yard and neighbouring forest to explore. Other things to note Rates listed include GST. Port Clements has cell phone service, as of March 2019. No wifi at this location due to obstruction in the signal from the neighbouring forest, but Internet access is available from the front porch of our house next door, or at the Village Office and the library. Bathroom is equipped with a standing shower stall, but an extra-large tub is provided for bathing small children. Grocery Store Hours: Mon – Sat, 10 am – 6 pm Gas Station Hours: Mon – Fri, 6:30 am – 7 pm; Sat, 8 am – 6 pm; Sun, 8 am – 4 pm. Angela’s Place at the gas station serves breakfast, coffee & tea and desserts & treats Village Office Hours: 9:30 am - 1 pm, M-F Museum Hours: Saturday, Sunday & by request Yakoun Inn (Pub) Hours: Daily dinner and drink specials – opens daily at 4 pm Fancy Local Dining – Haida House – 15 minute drive south to Tlell – phone in advance for reservations from May - Sept, 1 855-557-4600 Food truck: Fork in Port, 10 am - 8 pm Children under 15 stay for free – please do not count them as a guest on Airbnb, or the website will charge you an extra $15 fee.
