"The Barn" at Piney Ridge Farm
The Barn at Piney Ridge Farm - Bed & Breakfast
Description
Built in 2020 and a finalist in the 2021 Australian Timber Design Awards, "The Barn" is an incredibly unique open-plan building, situated on stunningly beautiful, natural farming land. Built predominantly from re-purposed hardwood in the style of Shearing shed on the outside, and old-English Barn on the inside, it offers glorious views of the Adelaide Hills - from Mount Lofty, across the Onkaparinga Valley through to Lake Alexandrina. You can literally sit and watch the cows and sheep graze. The space THE LOCATION Just a short 5-10 minute drive away from either Nairne, Woodside or Balhannah "The Barn" is situated perfectly to make it a perfect base to explore the amazing attractions nearby - Lot 100, Bird in Hand Winery, Barristers Block Winery, Howards Winery, just to name a few. THE BUILDING "The Barn" was built by a local former English Barn Builder who is a specialist in working with reclaimed hardwoods, and the materials used in the building and the history of where they were sourced is a very interesting story. The craftsmanship used in the build is extraordinary, and uses techniques not often used in Australia. The Barn fits so well into the landscape of our working sheep farm. It sits immediately adjacent to our sheep yards and hay shed and offers commanding and private views, overlooking our 100+ year-old gum trees and blue-ribbon natural grazing land. Being fully self-contained and open plan in its layout, the Barn includes a fully-equipped handmade timber kitchen with all European appliances, unique rustic bathroom and a large elevated deck. We have provided a very large dining table with plenty of room for you to spread out. The Club Lounge Settee provides a viewing space for the Smart TV, with a separate space right in front of the double sliding glass doors to relax in the Club Chairs with a glass or wine and soak in the views. The bedroom area provides a Queen Size Bed, and plenty of storage space for your personal items. This is an incredibly unique and one-of-a-kind building and exudes creativity everywhere you look. Guest access There is ramp access to the building and plenty of parking by our Hay Shed. Other things to note The Barn is strictly a non-smoking venue, including the deck, ramp and stairs and surrounding areas. If evidence of smoking is found inside the Barn, guests will be charged $500 plus additional cleaning costs which will be charged to the guest’s credit card. As the Barn is predominantly of timber construction, no candles or naked flames are permitted within the Building, nor on the Deck, stairway or ramp. This is a rural property and sound travels long distances. In the best interests of the local grazing animals and our neighbours please be mindful of your noise level during your stay. We ask you to adhere to a noise curfew of 10pm-7am. The appeal of The Barn is its tranquility, so please join in the peace and quiet. Although The Barn is very secluded and private, it is situated approximately 50 metres away from our home. We will respect your privacy during your stay, and we ask that you return that same courtesy. To ensure that ALL guests have a peaceful and relaxing experience, we have a strict NO VISITOR policy. This means that no visitors of guests are allowed on the property. The Barn is approved to accommodate a maximum of 2 adults only for the period stated. Strictly no children, parties or mass gatherings are allowed. During the winter months we offer a Fire Pit Package, where for an additional $60.00 (+GST) we will provide you with a supply of wood for you to use and enjoy the fire pit on one occasion during your stay. A limited amount of firewood will be provided, but we ask you to use only what is needed. It is a valuable resource. If you would like to add the Fire Pit Package to your booking, please just message us. The Barn is located in a high fire danger area and extreme care must be taken when using the fire pit. The fire pit is provided at our discretion and will be removed during the designated bushfire season (around Dec-April). Strictly no outside fires are permitted whatsoever during the bushfire season. No outside fires are to be lit at any other time, other than one contained within the provided fire pit. For Biosecurity reasons, animals and pets are strictly not permitted on the premises. If we find that pets have been brought onto the property you will be required to remove it or leave without a refund. If any of the above conditions are breached, we may immediately terminate your hire. We are a working Primary Production Farm which means that from time to time there may be machinery noise and staff working on the property. This will be kept to only what is necessary during your visit. The Claremont CFS Airstrip is just over the hill to our north-east and you may see and hear light firefighting aircraft and helicopters taking off and landing close-by during your visit. Their activity on the Airstrip is largely limited to the peak summer fire-fighting season. As a working farm it is imperative that foreign contaminants are not inadvertently introduced onto our property from guest’s footwear or vehicles. Please adhere to our Biosecurity measures by keeping to marked paths and the carparking area to reduce the risk of contamination. As farm equipment is often in use, please be observant when entering and exiting the property, and drive at walking pace only. Farming vehicles and implements can be dangerous, so please do not go near them or touch them. For the safety and grazing measures of our stock, it is important that you leave gates on the property as you find them. If a gate is closed, make sure you close it behind you. If it is open, please leave it open.
