Description
Glamping on a historic setertun that can be experienced all year round. A mix of history, culture and nature that gives a sense of calm. Enjoy the silence and tranquility of an arctic dome, experience the weather and nature up close. 15 minutes from E6, along county road 17, makes it a perfect place to stop if you drive E6 or the coastal road (F17) through Trøndelag. Here you rent the whole place, all by yourself. Live like in the old days, without electricity and water. Slow down and be present. One of Namdal's hidden gems. The space Seterdomen is located at the foot of Skarlandsfjellet in Høylandet municipality, in the far north of Trøndelag. It is 1.4 km to walk up to the dome from the parking lot, a walk that takes about 30-40 minutes. We offer a ride up if desired. When you rent the mountain farm you rent the entire farmyard and can use all the facilities that are there. Here are three old farm buildings from the 1780s and 1890s, respectively. The barn has been renovated in collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Foundation, while the other two buildings are next in line. They are currently in the same condition as they were when the mountain farming ended in the 1950s. In the area around the farmyard there are great hiking opportunities, and there is, among other things, a marked road up to Skarlandsfjellet. We also offer locally produced food packages; the seterguttens spekspakke and the husbondens elggryte. Winter glamping can be booked via a separate ad on Airbnb. In winter, you can book a package, including transport up and down, guidance on the site with training in the use of wood-burning stove, gas stove and the other facilities available. Search for winter glamping Arctic Dome Namdalen on Airbnb to see more information about this. Guest access From the parking lot it is 1.5 km to walk on a gravel tractor road (not suitable for pram/wheelchair). We offer rides with ATV if desired. When you come up to the setertunet you are alone in the area, and can use the area on and around the yard as you wish. Other things to note The cabin is heated with a wood-burning stove and gas stove, so it takes some time before the cabin gets warm. It is therefore recommended to bring some extra clothes to wear on arrival, especially in winter. There is no running water here, but there is plenty of water in the stream. A 5-liter container of clean drinking water is included in the rent. There is no electricity, so from August to May it is advisable to bring a pocket or headlamp. Light sources powered by solar cells are located inside Seterdomen. Outside the dome there is a nice seating area with access to a fire pit. Firewood and firelighters are provided inside the dome. Refill of wood is collected in the barn. We have installed a combustion toilet in one of the buildings, and if the need is great you have the opportunity to take a shower in the farm shower. This is a simple pump shower where you heat up the water yourself. You can also bring the shower outside, and take a refreshing outdoor shower. In the farmhouse you have access to a small kitchenette with a gas refrigerator and two gas stoves. The gas stoves are used for cooking, and are used to heat up water needed for the outdoor shower. Here you will also find the barn suite with two single beds that can be booked if you are more than two people going on a trip. There are marked hiking trails from the area and up towards Skarlandsfjellet. Here you can go as far as you want, and if you get to the top there is a nice fishing lake there. The hike all the way up to the top takes about two hours.
