Description

The Raven's Nest is nestled under the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at an elevation of 8,000' with stunning views of 14,000 foot peaks to the east and picturesque views of the expansive San Luis Valley to the west. Monarch Peak and the southern Collegiate Peaks can be seen to the North. Great hiking trails along roaring creeks beckon from a few minutes away. The space Challenger, Kit Carson and the Crestone Peaks come alive in the views from the deck of The Raven's Nest, especially as the light reflects from the peaks in the setting sun. There is never a repeat sunset across the San Luis Valley. Crestone is a certified Dark-Sky Community so the night sky is usually clear and star-packed! The description choices on AirBnb make it difficult to list and it was recommended to call The Raven's Nest a tiny home. However, it is more like a one-room studio apartment. There is a queen-size bed with a super comfortable mattress and a pullout twin bed. The compact kitchen includes a compact refrigerator and a 2-burner stove. There is a Keurig coffee maker, microwave, tea kettle, and toaster. Tea bags and K-cups for coffee are provided. The bathroom has a shower. There is not a washer or dryer on the premises. However, in the town of Crestone there is a laundromat behind the Crestone Mercantile grocery store. The air conditioner is a free-standing evaporative cooler. It's generally only needed for a few days during the summer. Typically, the ceiling fan and portable fan provide sufficient cooling. The heater works well in winter and for cool fall and spring nights. If you leave for the day, pulling the shades will keep out the heat or cold. No TV but good internet access is available. Guest access You have access to the studio apartment from a private deck with amazing views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It is located above the garage. You do not share the living space with anyone else. The Raven's Nest is in a building separated from our house. We live in a house on the property, and are available for suggestions or whatever you need to know. We are usually here, so if there is a need for maintenance, it can be taken care of immediately. Other things to note ALL bedding is washed after each guest, the space is cleaned with environmentally friendly products. Single soaps, mini-shampoos, and mini-conditioners are available for your use. We don't allow pets because of the wildlife that lives here. This is for the safety of your pet and for the safety of the wildlife. We do have a dog that lives in our home and sometimes occupies a fenced area adjacent to our house. She is elderly and always leashed when not in the house or fenced area. Please note that there is no direct access from the Crestone area to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. From the town of Crestone, it is a 60-mile drive to the entrance of the national park. The drive is really beautiful, though.
