The space Blábjörg Resort has a story of its own. Our main building is a former fish factory, which we bought in 2005 and have gradually transformed and renovated with a lot of love and care. Throughout the years, we have always tried to respect the history and character of the building while giving it a new life. Today, Blábjörg is much more than a place to stay. Our resort brings together accommodation, food, relaxation and local experiences – all surrounded by the beautiful nature of Borgarfjörður eystri. At Frystiklefinn Restaurant, we focus on local ingredients and flavours, working with products from our area whenever possible. Right next door is our own KHB Brewery & Distillery, where we produce our craft beers, gin and spirits. KHB is located in the historic old cooperative building from 1897 and has become an important part of the Blábjörg experience. At Musterið Spa & Wellness, overlooking the sea, guests can relax in our seaside hot tubs, cold tub and three different saunas, or choose one of our special Beer Baths or Seaweed Baths – unique bathing experiences in Iceland. Blábjörg has grown and changed considerably over the years, but our idea has always remained the same: to create a warm and welcoming place where our guests can slow down, enjoy the surroundings and experience a little piece of life in Borgarfjörður eystri. During your stay, you are welcome to enjoy everything Blábjörg Resort has to offer. Frystiklefinn Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and our friendly staff are always happy to assist with restaurant reservations, local information and recommendations. Musterið Spa & Wellness is located on site. Spa admission is available at an additional charge, with discounted rates for our overnight guests. Our concept is to let you choose your experience – from general admission to our seaside hot tubs, cold tub and three different saunas, to our unique Beer Baths and Seaweed Baths. Right next door you can also visit our own KHB Brewery & Distillery and enjoy locally produced craft beers and spirits. Blábjörg is surrounded by the beautiful nature of Borgarfjörður eystri, with numerous marked hiking trails nearby. Álfaborg, the legendary home of the Queen of the Icelandic Elves, rises from the village, while the famous puffin colony at Hafnarhólmi is just a short 5–10 minute drive away. Other things to note Musterið Spa & Wellness is located on site, but spa admission is not included in the accommodation rate. Overnight guests receive discounted rates and can choose between general spa admission or our special Beer Baths and Seaweed Baths. We recommend booking the special baths in advance when possible, although they can also be booked on arrival, subject to availability. Breakfast is included with your stay. Frystiklefinn Restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner, and our own KHB Brewery & Distillery is located right next door. Borgarfjörður eystri is a small and peaceful village surrounded by mountains and the sea. The journey here is part of the experience, so we recommend allowing plenty of time for the drive and enjoying the scenery along the way. The puffins at Hafnarhólmi are seasonal visitors and are normally in the area from spring until around mid-August. Outside the puffin season, there is still plenty to experience, including beautiful hiking trails, mountains, coastal scenery and the peaceful atmosphere of the village.
