Other things to note OCEAN BREEZE ISLAND GUIDE RESTAURANTS There are many delicious restaurants around Raiatea to sample local specialties such as poisson cru, sashimi, et ma’a Tahiti. Fish and Bleu is a don’t miss spot for a sunset cocktail on the beach and a dinner menu of epicurean island favorites. Closed Sun and Mon. Reservations for dinner are a must but stop in for a cocktail and enjoy the sunset anytime. Koko Crepe is open on weekends ans Sunday night. If youre arriving Sunday night make olans ahead of time for dinner because most places are closed. If you head more into town Napoli is an local favorite with good food and Chez Monpas the Brasserie Maraamu is where all the locals eat in Uturoa and La Raie Gate on the Uturoa quai has a great view and beautifully plated food. SHOPPING La Proxi on the way to town has a great selection of fish, meats, French cheese, ready to go items and wine and alcohol. 1 Km down the road to the south after the beach and the Marae Tainuu are two small stores that are open even on holidays and weekends. They have the basics and are good local spots to pick up a few things when everything is closed. Sunday morning arrive by 7 am and pick up Maa Tahiti before its all gone. Regular large grocery stores are in the main town of Uturoa. Alcohol purchases are closed on Sundays and holidays and everything is pretty much closed on Sunday afternoon. Large Groceries in town are open until noon on Sunday. The south pacific wakes up early. Hours are mostly 7:30 Am to 11:30 Am and closed by 4:30 pm. ACTIVITIES Exploring the sacred isle with an around the island drive is a great way to discover Raiatea. Check out the Marae Taputaputea. Kayaking out to the motus in calm weather is fun, Snorkeling on the corals in the green water off the bungalow and enjoying the sunsets on the terrace are a relaxing way to experience the south pacific. Visit the pearl farm in front—Anapa Pearl Farm at tel 87 707 607 is a unforgettable! 1 km. to the south you'll find a white sand beach, an important archeological site with petroglyphs, the Marae Tainuu and a beautiful representation of our local churches.
