Real local Lapland people are honest people and we work hard, do sports, fish, hunt, snowmobile and hike. There are mostly local people in the town centre and the tourist masses are usually in Luosto (40 km from the centre), which has the nearest national park and tourist activities. So there are no tourist activities in the centre of Sodankylä. However, Sodankylä is a suitable destination for car travelers because this is the centre of Lapland and from here you can travel in four different directions to see and experience Lapland and Lapland's many destinations. So if you want to stay in a peaceful, illuminated and secure centre place and travel to many places in Lapland, then this is a good base for you. There is also an Arctic Space Centre here and a small military garrison outside the centre in Sodankylä, just like in Rovaniemi. The northern lights can be seen here in the yard of our accommodation just like in other parts of Lapland. Our apartment is in a quiet residential area near the highway and the center of Sodankylä. The studio apartment has its own entrance from a different street than where our main apartment is so your privacy is guaranteed.
