Trodla-Tysdal has been a tourist destination for hikers since 1892. Tourists have to walk for appox. 3 hours (7 km) from Kleivaland parking place. There is no driving road to Trodla-Tysdal. Trodla-Tysdal means the valley of the Norwegian Trolls due the wilderness and dramatic nature. In 1996 Reidunn and Kjell built a tourist cabin for hikers. In 1998 in addition a small private cabin. In 2017 this small cabin was renewed and now it is possible to book this small cabin for you. The space There is no driving road to Trodla-Tysdal. Trodla-Tysdal is the most remote farm in operation in southern Norway. Here is wild and dramatic nature with mountains boulders, stones and old forest. 900 meters high mountain peaks surrounds the valley. A magnificent cultural landscape with many visible memories of previous generations' use of and coexistence with nature. The first Kjell did when he moved to the farm was to install a private hydro power station, which supplies the buildings with electricity. The main cabin with shared kitchen, diningroom, shower and toilett, is near by. Other things to note The hike from Kleivaland to Trodla-Tysdal is 7 km, 261 m elevation gain, 3 hours hike from Kleivaland parking (no driving road) The hike is suitable for persons who have basic hiking skills and are in good physical shape. Children older than 5 years, can walk if they are used to hike. Children under 10 will use 4-6 hours on the hike. The shared kitchen, and bathroom is in the main cabin near by the small private cabin. Sometimes there will be other hikers in the main cabin that are using the kitchen and bathroom. The cabin shall be cleaned by the guests before check-out. New guests may arrive on the same day. Bring the used bedlinen and towels to the box for these in the main cabin. Used cups and plates are placed in the dishwasher. All garbage to be put in the big garbage bin ourside the main cabin. Clean the table and vacuum the floor of the cabin. There is a weak internet connection outside the cabin. Inside the cabin there is no wifi or internet.
