Description

The little house is part of an old refurbished farmstead, built in traditional perigourdain manner of honey-coloured stone. The house was refurbished to modern and comfortable standards in 1998 and 2010. It is situated in quiet secluded surroundings at the end of a private road on a south-facing hill above the village Tursac in the Vézère river valley. The facilities (~60sqm) include a large living room, spacious kitchen with dining table, and shower/WC on the ground floor. The compact first floor under the eaves comprises a through-room (open to the stairs) and bedroom, with a total of three beds. In summer the upstairs can get warm, the ground floor always remains cool. There is a large inviting terrace with sunny and shady spaces. The house is ideal for two people +/- 1-2 small children (or potentially three adults who know each other well). A cot for infants can be provided. The rental includes the professional cleaning of the house. For hygiene reasons, the house remains empty for two days (48h) between tenants. Please note that there is currently no WiFi. The region Tursac (Perigord Noir, Département Dordogne) is a small village in the Vézère valley. Numerous sightseeing highlights can be found nearby; this well-established tourist and holiday destination is known for its beautiful landscape and rich cultural heritage. Picturesque villages, medieval towns (Sarlat, Bergerac, Périgueux etc.), castles, fortresses, magnificent gardens are equally worth visiting as roman churches and open-air museums. Les Eyzies and its surroundings are known as the ‘capital of prehistory’. Several caves with Paleolithic art (Font de Gaume, Combarelles, Cap Blanc, Rouffignac) as well as museums, and since 2016 ‚Lascaux IV‘ are of interest to archaeologists and other visitors across the world. Music lovers can choose from a diverse programme of concerts throughout the summer. Those who are keen on the outdoors and sports find ample opportunity for hiking or cycling around the hills, as well as canoeing facilities on the Vézère und Dordogne rivers. The flora and fauna of the region are also worth noting. Regional produce and specialties are available at lively markets, and wine tastings are offered in many of the local wineries. The region is famous for its cuisine and wines. Restaurants range from snack bar to five-star establishments, with two restaurants in Tursac village itself. Shopping facilities are available nearby (e.g. Les Eyzies 5km). The nearest towns include Le Bugue (= Martin Walker’s "St.Denise", 12km), Sarlat (20 km), und Pérgiueux (45km).
