A second living area, main bathroom, and laundry add convenience. The beautiful beach is just a few minutes’ walk away. Please note that while we allow pets, the yard is not secure. The front garden has been carefully planted to enhance privacy and help screen the property from the road. The natural setting also brings unique wildlife encounters, with fairy penguins occasionally nesting beneath the deck and in the hedge, and koalas often seen in the trees at the rear of the property. Guest access Guests will have access to all of property except the shed at the back. Other things to note Emu Bay is a beautiful, peaceful spot, but there are no local shops in the immediate area. The nearest town is Kingscote, about a 15-minute drive away, where you’ll find supermarkets, cafés, and everything you might need during your stay. We’re lucky to share the property with some wonderful wildlife. A small colony of fairy penguins lives under the deck and can sometimes be heard at night, and you may even spot a koala in the gum trees behind the house—both special parts of Kangaroo Island life. As with much of Australia, you may notice insects such as mosquitoes, flies, and spiders. Keeping screen doors closed helps keep them outside, especially as flies can gather behind shutters if they get in. Please also note that Emu Bay does not have mains water. The house is supplied by rainwater tanks at the rear of the property, so we kindly ask guests to use water thoughtfully during their stay.
