Leading down to the creek with everpresent frogs you will find apricot, nectarine, peach, lime and lemon fruit trees, towering gums which often are a home for the resident koala population, or enjoy a cuppa under the shady old plum tree bordered by agapanthus, and Japanese maple. Yours hosts Alex and Kylie have established this beautifully appointed, rustic tranquil retreat. You won't be staying cookie cutter accommodation that could be in any city. You will be relaxing in the heart of the Adelaide Hills and enjoying a well-loved family cottage amidst nature's paradise. Original floorboards, individualised pieces of art and furniture pieces selected for the stories they tell of the diverse culture of the region. We want nothing more than for you to spend the day exploring all that the beautiful Adelaide Hills have to offer, knowing at the end of the day you can relax back and enjoy the comfort, charm and cosiness of this delightful cottage that will feel like a home away from home . Guest access Guests have the entire cottage and gardens to themselves. The hosts do not live on site, so you can enjoy relax, sit back and completely enjoy the seclusion and peace of the space knowing you won’t be disturbed. Other things to note This is an old cottage with history and stories, with a very big terraced garden. The cottage and garden is not a sanitised experience where perfection reigns - it is an experience where the floorboards might squeak occasionally, where the possums might dance on the roof at night, and where you are intimately aware of the wind howling around you in winter and the crackle of the eucalyptus oil on the gum trees in the scorching summer. You are so close to nature, with an expansive verandah high amongst the tree tops - which means sometimes cockatoos leave their little "messages" behind, and the dust gets caught on the historical stone and iron of the cottage. We note this because we want you to have the best possible experience at the cottage - and if nature and authentic experience and stories of days gone by aren't for you, then possibly the cottage may not be your cup of tea:) In winter you may like to light the wonderfully toastie and romantic pot belly fire downstairs. The hosts do not provide wood, but can make it available for you to purchase if you let them know in advance. Or you can purchase it at the nearby service station about one minutes drive away.
