The space Welcome to our offbeat boho yurt hideaway, tucked into the rugged beauty of Texas Hill Country at Pennington Grove. There is a second Airstream glampsite on the property offering its own unique experience that can be booked separately if you need additional accomodations. Our yurt leans into a cozy, eclectic bohemian style with thoughtful touches throughout—like the wallpaper in the bathroom that’ll make you feel like you’re doing your business deep in the woods (in the best way possible). Out here, the dark is really dark—on a moonless night, it feels like you've fallen off the edge of the modern world. Minimal outdoor lighting means the stars take center stage, especially when you switch off the interior lights and gaze up through the yurt’s clear dome. The back deck feels like a treehouse, wrapped around a couple of live oaks. From there, take in the ancient land—strewn with fossil-stamped rocks from when this part of Texas was a shallow sea. Throughout the seasons, the wildflowers put on a rotating color show, sharing space with prickly pear, yucca, and sturdy Ashe Juniper. Wildflowers make our place an ideal ecosystem for an apiary which is part of our working farm here. Bees are fascinating and essential to us humans and have perhaps the most important role. We encourage you to wander. The land has stories to tell, whether through a hypnotic walk among blooming cactus or the unexpected thrill of finding an arrowhead or a geode (yes, you can keep them!). You might hear the low thud of ordinance from a nearby army base or the futuristic rumble of rocket testing from SpaceX’s engine facility about 20 miles away. It’s all part of the wild blend of natural wonder and human ambition that makes this part of Texas so unique. We love it here—and we hope you will too. Guest access ✨ Exploring the Property You’re welcome to roam and enjoy all 14 acres of our peaceful Hill Country retreat — take a walk, breathe in the fresh air, and reconnect with nature. As you explore, please stay mindful that a few of our wild neighbors, like rattlesnakes and scorpions, and our working apiary who also call this area home. The Apiary is a safe distance from the campsites and tucked among the juniper. Please keep 50-75 feet from the area as not to disturb the bees as they go bout their daily work. 🌿 A Quick Safety Note We ask that guests avoid going underneath the yurt, as that space isn’t designed for exploring. 🌙 After-Dark Adventures The stargazing here is incredible! If you venture out at night, bring a flashlight and a buddy — it makes the experience more fun and helps you stay aware of the local wildlife. 🔥 Fire Safety Burn bans are common in this area, so please keep fires small, cozy, and only in the fire pit. It’s the perfect spot for s’mores and stories under the stars. Other things to note We do not allow the discharge of firearms on the property other than BB gun caliber. The neighbors are closer than you think and in all four directions. They will call the authorities if they hear gunfire. We do respect the second amendment and therefore do not forbid you from bringing them for self protection.
