A spectacular 200 year old barn, given a modern conversion. Bois Blanc is set in private grounds, down its own track surrounded by cognac vineyards. The Barn has a decking area with outdoor furniture and use of the large swimming pool between June and September. Originally built in 1836, Bois Blanc was a cognac producer's house and is set, away from busy roads, in the Grand Champagne region of the cognac vineyards. It is now owned by an English couple who are renovating the main house. There are no immediate neighbours. The Barn is set in the gardens, and the landscaping is being carefully arranged to provide privacy. It is not overlooked by the owners who live in the main house. The large 12 x 6m L shaped pool has ample space to practice lengths while the deep stepped area allows you to sit and dip your feet in the water while reading a book ... without being splashed! The accommodation has been furnished to a very high standard. This is a contemporary barn conversion with the whole front wall in glass, giving stunning views across the vineyards. The bedroom, on the mezzanine level is accessed by spiral stairs topped off with a frameless glass balustrade. From the bed the window looks like a cinema screen! There is a full width automatic blind to give privacy to the bedroom at night. Beautifully appointed, with local stone floor and furniture by BoConcept, the Barn is a place to relax and enjoy your holiday. The super king sized bed has a full Tempur mattress and all our linen is from the White Company in London. Downstairs the double doors open directly onto a generous decking. Designer Royal Botania table and chairs are provided for outdoor dining. There is a Mac computer for DVD's and music complemented by a built in Bose sound system. The barn also has wifi. Guests have access to the Barn and surrounding gardens, including the 6x12m outdoor pool and landscaped pool area with sun loungers. The Barn is equipped for self catering and everything is provided to a high standard. I will always be present during your stay, although I work in the week. I will meet you on arrival and introduce you to Bois Blanc and The Barn. I will show you how everything works and where to find everything. I can explain to you where to shop, the very best places to visit, the local restaurants and all about Cognac production! I try and be discrete and leave visitors in peace, but am always here if you need me, and am happy to chat and share a drink. I deliver fresh bread to your door every morning and can arrange cognac tastings and visits with top quality, family estates. Our nearest village is 3km away with a small shop, post office, bar, cafe (it's all in one!). Cognac is the nearest town, about 15km away with restaurants, cafes, bars and of course, world famous cognac houses to explore. St Emillion 80km, Bordeaux 90km, Angouleme 45km, La Rochelle 65km, Ile d'Re 70km. This part of the Charente is a grownups playground! There are plenty of historic towns to visit within an hour: Cognac, Saintes, Angouleme, Royan, La Rochelle, St Emillion and Bordeaux. Fantastic scenery, stone villages and a sea of cognac vines. Outdoor activities include: canoeing, cycling, walking, swimming. There are miles of off-road tracks through the vines which are great for walking, cycling or riding. The Atlantic coast and the famous islands of Oleron and Ré. Quaint costal villages, huge stretches of sandy, dune backed beaches. Oysters, Seafood, wine, cognac and pineau. Lots of independent cognac estates to visit. Festivals include the Blues Passions and the Fete d'Cognac for outdoor music and food, the Coup de Chauffe street arts festival in Cognac in Sept. Contact us if you want to know if anything is going on when you visit. You will need a car to get around here. We do have another apartment on the property, The Cottage. It is only for 2 people and does not overlook you. It does share the gardens and pool but there is plenty of room for all and most people spend lots of their time out. We do not allow extra guests at the property.
