This property is Bord Failte (Irish Tourist Board) approved. It has been the original home of the McDonald family for generations. The Chestnut Cottage has been carefully restored, keeping as much of the house's 'Old World' character as possible while adding all modern comforts. The Chestnut Cottage is in the Galway / Offaly area, three miles from the popular river town of Banagher in Co. Offaly. The large bridge across the Shannon County Galway River opens the way to visiting the West of Ireland. Banagher is famous for its Irish music pubs, river cruises, Bog walks and rail hikes, great fishing, (pike fishing is especially rewarding), excellent super markets and shops, restaurants and hotels.
