The Oz House

This historic home has a magical past. The author of the "Wizard of Oz" Frank Baum, had family that lived here. Step back in time with stained glass windows, hardwood floors and hand painted murals. Enjoy modern amenities with a cooks kitchen, gas fireplace and large soaking tub. A short walk to local restaurants, pubs, shopping , Walgreens and Illinois Wesleyan, ISU, and BroMenn. An excellent place to entertain with family and friends or a great location for the working professional. The space A kitchen equipped with everything you would ever need with a large dining space for family and friends. We offer beautiful, matching dishes, handmade bowls, handblown glasses and crystal barware. Linen napkins for those who want to up their entertaining game or are concerned with recycling. A large eat-in counter in the kitchen is great for casual meals, meeting of the minds or to entertain. A large dining room table seats 6 and is great for those more formal gatherings. The dining room is packed with original art, a nice couch and t.v. for the ultimate gathering space. A formal parlor with gas fireplace, coffee/tea bar and bar cart is great spot to finish the day. Gather to talk, read or play cards. This is our favorite spot in the house. It takes you back in time when people truly connected. There is a half bath downstairs for your convenience. A large and lovely office is tucked away downstairs. A perfect spot to think, read or do work. The office comes with an office chair, sprawling countertop, several reading lamps and lots of books. This space also has a comfortable hang out spot with a loveseat and chair. With many oddities, original art and many books, you may get lost in here. Upstairs you will find 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a laundry room. Each bedroom has a unique story. Bedroom 1 was the original nursery. It features an antique bed that is a double. The mattress is custom made and comfortable. With it's own fireplace and rocking chair, it's a super cozy space for any age. 100% cotton bedding, original art and a handmade quilt are details that make this room special. A full bathroom is next to bedroom #1. A walk-in shower , marble tile floor, and antique vanity. The laundry room is next to the bedrooms and bath. Super convenient and lovely! Bedroom #2 is a large bedroom with room to spread out. A beautiful bed with a wonderful mattress and 100% cotton linens will ensure a great nights sleep. Wool rugs, a comfy chair, handmade quilts and original art make this room a comfy get-a-way. Last but certainly not least we have our master suite or bedroom #3. A king size, Sleep Number bed with high end linen/cotton sheets and duvet make this the best night sleep! Adjust this bed to whatever firmness You desire. Stained glass lamps, original art and a giant wool rug are all the high end details that make this room what it is. An ensuite full bathroom and walk in closet make this a very private space. The walk-in closet has a dressing table, great for make-up and getting ready. Our home is a unique nod to "The Wizard of Oz", The Baum Family and all of the previous occupants. Play a game. Grab a book. Cook a meal and just hand out. If you like T.V., no problem. We have 1. If you want to disconnect or reconnect, we have you covered. Other things to note We are artists and we believe that art is meant to circulate so that many people may enjoy it. As such, most of the original art in our home (pieces without specific sentimental value) is for sale. If anything on our walls or any of our ceramics speak to you, please inquire about its price. Most everything in our homes is hand-made by known artists and our prices will be fair market value.
