Description

Experience a cosy country getaway at The Loose Box. This self-contained annex is an extension of our manor house, originally built in 1637. The Loose Box is beautifully decorated and done up to high standards. We have 2 bedrooms each with their own bathroom. The bedding is 600 thread Egyptian Cotton as well as spa quality towels. There is a kitchen, living room with a wood burning stove, outdoor patio and garden area. Close proximity to Bruton, The Newt & Hauser & Wirth Gallery. The space Besides a dedicated garden area for use only by The Loose Box. There is a fenced 2 acre paddock which is shared with the main house. The property is surrounded by endless apple orchards and there is easy access to numerous walks and cycle rides along public footpaths. We are also right beside a river where you can swim or go fishing. There is on-site secured car parking. Guest access There are many pretty little villages and towns in the area which are all worth visiting, plus lots of great country-pubs and award-winning restaurants: - Babcary: 5 min drive or 1.5 hour walk Pretty little hamlet with a great, cosy country pub called The Red Lion Inn. - Somerton: 10 min drive Market on Fridays and a great pub called the White Heart as well as a lovely restaurant called Alfredo's. - Castle Cary: 10 min drive Fantastic food market on Tuesdays with beautiful organic veg and local fish. Lots of independent shops. - The Newt: 10 min drive The World renowned country estate, known for its beautiful gardens, woodland walks, farm shop, restaurants and cider press. A must visit when in the area. - Batcombe: 15 min drive Home to the wonderful gastro pub, The Three Horseshoes, which recently won best restaurant in the world by National Geographic. - Glastonbury: 15 min drive Quirky independent shops, great pubs and live music make Glastonbury a must. Walk up Glastonbury Tor at sunrise or sunset for a mystical experience. - Bruton: 20 min drive Trendy village with fantastic, award-winning restaurants - At the Chapel, Roth Bar & Matt's Kitchen, lovely shops like Caro and the world famous Contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth. - Frome: 25 min drive Another trendy little town with lots of quirky independent shops, great bakeries and an incredible market on the first Sunday of every month. - Wells: 25 min drive England's smallest city, stunning Wells is definitely worth a visit with its distinctive Cathedral and unique moated Bishop's Palace. Not to mention the more well-known attractions in the surrounding areas such as, Cheddar Gorge, the Wookey Hole Caves, Bath & West Showground and the Kilver Court Gardens. We are also under an hour away from Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Weston-super-Mare and Sherborne. Other things to note Pets are allowed downstairs only and are not allowed in the bedrooms. Shoes must be removed before going upstairs please. All damages must be paid for. We provide a fully stocked kitchen, along with basic cooking essentials such as oil, salt & pepper.
