Description

Set deep in the Ozark Mountains, this secluded 1970s stone cabin is an off-grid retreat on 40 private acres. Perfect for couples, creatives, or small families seeking peace. Features a spring-fed pond, wood stove, fast WiFi, natural spring, and delicious mineral water. Explore trails, stargaze by the hand built sun & moon fire pit, and relax with total privacy. Two queen beds, one twin bed, a twin blow-up mattress, and full kitchen. 30 minutes to Devil’s Den, Clear Creek, and Ozark Folkways. The space Welcome to our handcrafted Ozark hideaway—a soulful, slow-living kind of place tucked deep into the woods. Originally built by two musicians in the 1970s with care, intention, and a “back to the land” spirit, the cabin still holds that same creative energy today. Now lovingly curated by two artists it’s filled with thoughtful touches, mid-century charm, real plants, and everything you need to unplug, release, and breathe. Inside, the cabin offers three sleeping spaces: • Downstairs: A cozy bedroom with a queen bed, a private exit (with screen door) to the outdoors, a small closet, and an AC unit. • Upstairs: Two semi-private rooms—one with a queen bed and armoire, the other with a twin bed. These rooms are separated by curtains rather than doors, creating an open, loft-like feel. • A twin-size air mattress is also available and can be set up either downstairs or upstairs, depending on your needs. The main bathroom has a deep cast iron tub (a high step in, so please take care), strong water pressure, and plenty of fresh towels for larger groups. The house runs on clean, mineral-rich well water—perfectly drinkable and delicious—but guests are welcome to bring their own water if they prefer. A washer and dryer are available for your use, and the kitchen is stocked with dishes, basic non-perishables, and cast iron skillets for cooking. You’ll find a full-size fridge, oven, French press, kettle, and the things you’d expect from a thoughtful host who also loves to cook. ***There is no TV here*** We want this to be a n intentional space for sharing stories, good conversations, laughter, and stargazing. That said, there is fast Wi-Fi if you need to work remotely or stream from your own devices. A wood stove provides cozy heat in colder months, and while the cabin is comfortable and cared for, it’s still very much in the woods—on 40 forested acres. That means you may find the occasional bug inside. We do our best, but this is the Ozarks, and nature likes to sneak in. Outside, you’ll find: • A small patio with an outdoor dining set and BBQ grill • A handmade fire pit and picnic table near the trailhead • A short hike to a natural spring and a steel sculpture by Jonathan Perrodin (see photos) • A spring-fed pond to walk around • A barn with a hand-painted “Share & Seed” sign by Ozark artist Danny R.W. Baskin • An outdoor spigot for rinsing off muddy boots or gear • 40 acres to hike and explore The decor throughout includes original artwork by several Ozark artists, all thoughtfully selected. We respectfully encourage "Leave No Trace" practices: pack it in, pack it out. Please don’t leave trash or toilet paper in the woods—this land is cherished, and we all share the responsibility of protecting it. Our decor is a blend of mid-century vintage and comfort, gathered over years with love and care. The vibe is grounded, creative, and cozy with sprinkles of thoughtful touches both inside and out. Smoking policy: We’re chill about smoking—just please keep it outside and use ashtrays. Be mindful of fire danger during dry spells. Please Note: The steep oak staircase, open loft-style layout upstairs, stone path at the entrance, and deep bathtub mean this cabin may not be ideal for small children or guests with limited mobility. Sleeps up to 5 comfortably. No TV. No rush. Just the trees, the moonlight, a few new memories, and space to unplug. Guest access Guests have full access to the entire cabin and 40 private acres of forested Ozark land—feel free to wander the trails, visit the spring-fed pond, explore the garden plot, or enjoy a quiet moment at the handmade fire pit. Nothing is off-limits except the small shed near the cabin (just a storage space). Make yourself at home, inside and out. Other things to note Getting here is part of the adventure! The cabin is tucked away down a secluded dead-end dirt road, and the driveway is unpaved as well. While a high-clearance vehicle can be helpful, many guests — even those in small sedans — have made the trip just fine in fair weather. In winter months, we recommend a 4-wheel or all-wheel drive for added peace of mind. Please drive slowly and keep an eye out for wildlife, especially if you’re arriving or leaving after dark — deer and other animals are frequent visitors out here. We’re about 30 minutes (or more) from the nearest gas station, grocery store, or convenience shop. It’s best to stock up on food, water (if you’d prefer your own), and personal toiletries before arriving. That said, our mineral well water is clean, delicious, and — we think — better than city water. We keep a few essentials stocked in the cabin to make things easier: feminine products, Band-Aids, ibuprofen, Tums, sunscreen, bug spray, laundry detergent, shampoo, and conditioner. You’re welcome to use what you need, and we encourage you to bring anything specific you love or rely on.
