Only a few miles from the start of the Northumberland Heritage Coast with miles of golden sandy beaches, with fabulous Druridge Bay only 8 miles to the east. Head north and visit Alnwick Castle, 23 miles, famed for scenes shot for the Harry Potter films, or head up to Holy Island and Bamburgh with breathtaking views over the coast. Hop on a train at Morpeth and take a day trip to Edinburgh, and there is easy road access for Hadrian’s Wall (Vindolanda), 42 miles, and the Northumberland National Park.
