The small medieval town of Castellabate lies on a 278 m high mountain peak above the sea with a lot of 'Belvedere'. The place developed around the castle built in 1123, which served the population as protection against Saracen raids. Winding alleys, archways, labyrinthine stairways lead through the intact historical center. It is not for nothing that Castellabate was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The coastal towns of San Marco, Santa Maria di Castellabate and Ogliastro Marina also have more than wide sandy beaches to offer. In the heart of the Centro Storico: the Aragonese coast watchtower at the port of Santa Maria di Castellabate.
