Fredvanghytta Strandbo is located in one of the most magnificent areas in Lofoten. Places like Kvalvika and Ryten are located about 60 minutes walk from the cabin. The cabin is located at 275 meters above sea level. The shortest route to the cabin is from Indresand where there is a parking lot that charges a fee of NOK 100 per day. From the beginning of the trail at Indresand to the cabin it is 60 minutes walk. This walk to the cottage is in itself an experience where you have a view of the major parts of Fredvang. In the cabin there is a wood-burning stove for heating The space On a clear day you can look all the way to Bodø, and looking north you can see all the way to Vesterålen. Kvalvika and Ryten are 2 of the most popular sights that everyone should visit. Staying in the cabin you have a unique opportunity to visit these nice sights and the rest of Moskenesøya. We experience that a few guests do not realize that this is a MOUNTAIN HUT located 275 meters above sea level where you have to walk 35-45 minutes on a mountain trail. You'll must bring a SLEEPING BAG, FOOD, and SAFE DRINKING WATER. Otherwise, the cabin has everything you need. We hosted a guest in the winter of 2019 who stated that the walk was life-threatening during winter, which is not true. Winter in Lofoten can be unstable and everybody walks up the mountain at their own risk! There is NO electricity in the cabin, candles are used for light and wood for heating when needed! Guest access Guests have access to the whole cabin consisting of the 1. floor with open concept living room and kitchen, corridor, and 2 bedrooms with 8 single beds. The 2. floor consists of lofts with space on the floor for 8 people. They can access the gas burner in order to prepare food. The cabin is without electricity but there are plenty of candles. Other things to note The cabin has a wood burning stove and the wood is in the woodshed near the cabin. There is no running water, but there is water in the container at the cottage that can be boiled before used for food preparation and HAS to be used to clean the cottage. There is no installed power so candles are used if necessary. There is no toilet in the cabin. The toilet is located 70 meters from the cabin and is considered as an outhouse. REMEMBER: THE KEY FITS THE FRONT DOOR, TOILET AND WOOD SHED!!At the end of the stay, the cabin has to be cleaned and doors, windows must be closed so that new guests arrive to a clean and nice cabin. A few guests do not realize that this is a MOUNTAIN HUT located 275 meters above sea level, which takes approx. 60 minutes to reach by foot, there is also no bed linen, and each guest MUST bring a sleeping bag. Parking fee is NOT included in the rent!
