Beautiful farmhouse between ocean, forests and rivers

Come and recharge your batteries in the Lanvaux moors, 20 minutes from Vannes and 30 minutes from the Gulf of Morbihan. You will stay in an old farmhouse (19th century), equipped with all modern comforts, but with the charm of its experience. Surrounded by forests, it overlooks the valley where the Claie River flows. The view, clear from East to West at 180 degrees, will allow you to enjoy the sunrise as well as its sunset. At night, it's the magic of the stars, no light source coming to alter them. The space The right wing of the house, totally independent, is intended for you with a private entrance. ON THE GROUND FLOOR: A living room equipped with a closed fireplace (we offer you enough to make a first fire. For additional wood, count ten euros for ten 50 cm oak logs. Small wood offered), two sofas including a sofa bed, a coffee table, a buffet (containing board games), a secretary (a comfortable office chair is available on request, so as not to unnecessarily clutter the room, otherwise normal chair), fiber, a TV, a Freebox (with Netflix and Max subscriptions), a DVD/Blu Ray player, a mini stereo and a fire extinguisher. A fully equipped kitchen (oven, gas hob, microwave oven, fridge, mini-freezer, dishwasher, electric kettle, Italian coffee machine, raclette and fondue services, dishes, cutlery...). A round table with four chairs for your meals inside. Bathroom with large bathtub (towels and bath mat provided), hairdryer. Separate WC. And access to the garden (see below). The washing machine is in the tool shed located immediately to the right as you exit the house (garden side). Two linen racks, one outside and one inside the tool shed, are at your disposal. UPSTAIRS: Two twin bedrooms: one with a 190/140 bed, the other with a queen size bed (received May 24).) Bed linen and duvets provided. The beds will be made on arrival. Essential products. THE GARDEN: You will have free access to its thousand square meters of garden. A glass table, chairs and barbecue await you. At the bottom of the garden, in the shade of the three hundred-year-old oaks, you can play Breton pucks (board and pucks provided) or boules, even if the ground is uneven because of the roots of the weeds (boules not provided), or simply bask on one of the three canvas sun loungers. A small table and two wooden chairs are also there. In the garden grow small fruit trees (bird rowan, strawberries, currants...), old fruit trees (walnut, Japanese quince, peach trees (3), apple trees (2), wild cherry) and others in the making (small pear trees, plum trees, cherry trees, hazel trees.) You will see and/or hear the song of many birds (robins, tits, woodpeckers, blackbirds, buzzards...). If you have breakfast in the garden, you may hear Stéphane's laying hens for a few minutes, when they go out to frolic after a night away from foxes and weasels, usually around 11 a.m. They are more than a hundred meters from the house and there is no rooster, so nothing daunting. Your pets are welcome, however important information: the land, although surrounded by hedges, is not enclosed (no fence). The small road that borders the house forms a loop, serving only three neighbors, so silence reigns almost all day. You can take many walks right away when you leave the house. A path descends into the forest, then along the river Claie, where you can tease the trout if you feel like it. The farmhouse is located halfway between the villages of Trédion and Saint-Guyomard (5 minutes from both), with supermarkets, bakeries, bars and restaurants. And 10 minutes from Elven, where you will find many shops, including an Intermarché, an organic store (where you can taste the products of local farmers), a market on Friday morning and the Aquagolfe, a fully glazed aquatic complex with a 25 m pool (four swimming lanes), another with massaging jets, a water slide for children, a sauna and a hammam). Guest access As explained above, you have a separate entrance. Other things to note The farmhouse is located on the edge of the Gulf of Morbihan Regional Natural Park, in a department of infinite wealth. There is Vannes, twenty minutes away by car: its ramparts and magnificent "French-style" gardens, its outdoor market in the heart of the historic center (Wednesdays and Saturdays mornings), its "fish hall" dating from the end of the Middle Ages and dedicated to seafood, its marina and of course the ocean, the Gulf and its myriad of islands and sandy beaches. Still in Vannes, but a little further, you arrive at the pretty peninsula of Conleau, which you can go around by a path along the ocean. If you want to cool off, you can dive into its seawater pool. There are a thousand things to say about the wonders of the Gulf, but also around... For example, Damgan, its tongue of sand nearly five kilometers long, its delicious Pénerf oysters, named after the river that mixes with the sea, a ria with landscapes oscillating between ancient salt marshes, wet meadows and coastline. This Natura 2000 site is a paradise for birds and nature lovers. Damgan is also a renowned place for shore fishing and for fishing in general. Hopefully, you can see bluefin tuna hunting about a hundred meters from the large beach of Kervoyal. It happened to us once, on a beautiful autumn day. Don't miss the Rhuys peninsula, which extends a little further, passing through Sarzeau, it closes the southern part of the Gulf. You can visit the beautiful castle of Suscinio, stop at the port of Crouesty to visit the cairn of Petit Mont then Port-Navalo and its lighthouse. You will see just opposite, the other gate of the Gulf: the tip of Kerpenhir, and between the two, you can measure the power of the current of the Mare, the second strongest in Europe. If you are a fisherman, we can point you to good spots where you can find sea bass, gray or royal sea bream (the Pointe de Kerpenhir is one). At the end of the summer, you can go turlutte fishing and catch squid and morgates (sea hare), when they come to hunt in the evening in the ports of the Gulf and the Bay of Quiberon. The ocean is not stingy with its riches, if you feel like mussels after a day at the beach, and if the tide allows it, you can pick up a few liters and enjoy yourself. Or, during larger tides, go to Locmariaquer (one of our favorite places) and customize your seafood platter: clams, razor clams, prawns, oysters, bouquets, velvet crabs... You will see panoramas that are among the most beautiful found in the Gulf. It is also right next door, in Carnac, that the famous alignments of 2934 menhirs are located. If you have just gone there for a walk, do not hesitate to go for a drink or eat on the terrace in the port of Saint-Goustan, on the Auray estuary, in the city of the same name. There again a place full of charm. There are many must-sees in the Gulf: the Passage de Saint-Armel and the Presqu'île de la Villeneuve, the Pointe du Bill, the Pointe d'Arradon, Port Blanc and its stone arch, from where you can take the shuttle to visit Île aux Moines, nicknamed the pearl of the Gulf, with its secret coves and white sand beaches. It is the largest island in the Gulf. Continuing along the sea, you will arrive at Larmor Baden. At low tide, you can go to Berder Island and walk along the coastal path. When you are at the tip, you will see on your right the island of Gavrinis (on which we can only advise you to go and visit its incredible Cairn - the shuttle leaves from the port of Larmor Baden, and a guide will tell you about this jewel of prehistory, "the Sistine Chapel" of the Neolithic period.), and on your left the island of the Mare. The current of the same name passes between Berder and La Jument. The greater the tidal range, the more you will measure its incredible power. But remember to look at the tide schedules and not leave Berder too late, otherwise you will be stuck on the island. Above all, do not try to cross, even if the water reaches below your knee, the current would carry you away. And we could not finish this non-exhaustive list without saying a word about the Quiberon peninsula, with its cliffs and wild coast. From there, among other things, you can see Hoëdic and Houat and in the distance Belle-île, which is aptly named. That's it for the Gulf and the sublime, even mythical, places that border it. Now, let's leave the Métairie du Croc, where you will be staying. A few minutes by car (or by bike), you can discover an exceptional and still little-known place: the cairns of the Coëby forest. Over 6000 years old, they form an impressive megalithic necropolis that was only discovered in 2009 and is far from having revealed all its secrets. Also a few minutes away, "Les étangs aux biches", just after the Château de Trédion, are particularly popular with families, who come to picnic on the grass as soon as the sun shines. There are playgrounds for children, boules courts, fitness trails and hiking trails that go deep into the forests of Lanvaux. For mushroom lovers, in these forests, from mid-July if there is heat and rain, you can find chanterelles and summer porcini mushrooms, then in autumn a wide variety of other delicious mushrooms lining the undergrowth: Bordeaux porcini mushrooms, black trumpets, sheep's feet, tube chanterelles, blue feet, etc. Twenty minutes away by car is the beautiful City of Malestroit, born in the 11th century, in the running this year for the title of "favorite village of the French". Place du Bouffay, pleasantly seated on the terrace of a café, you will only have to raise your head to admire the vestiges of a past marked by the crusades and a flourishing trade. Alongside the majestic carved granite mansions, amazing timber-framed houses feature figurines evoking the fables of the Middle Ages: the sow that spins, the hare playing the bagpipes, the pelican. Across the square is the remarkable Saint-Gilles Church (11th-16th century). Exceptional paintings have recently been discovered on its vaults. You can then stroll along the banks of the Nantes to Brest canal or the Oust, since the two meet in this place. It's a great place to cycle, or rest on the shaded benches, watching the barges and pleasure boats pass the locks. It's also a great place for fishermen. Not to mention white fish, perch and pike abound. On August 1 and 2, 2025, the "Au Pont du Rock" festival will take place. It is the oldest associative and independent Rock festival in Brittany. We also highly recommend the market, on Thursday mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., to stock up on fruits, vegetables, honey, or meat and seafood. There is also Rochefort-en-Terre, elected "Favorite Village of the French" in 2016, with - as in Malestroit - its magnificent half-timbered houses. If you have time, go to La Gacilly and discover the city by browsing its wonderful photo festival, where 800 images are exhibited in the open air, in a setting of nature and crafts. This year, it is from June 1st to October 5th. About twenty minutes away, but this time towards Rennes, is Ploërmel. The small beach of "Lac au Duc" is the perfect place to cool off in fresh water on hot summer days. Between the lake and the 9-hole golf course (for amateurs), you can explore the circuit of hydrangeas, the symbolic flower of Brittany. This unique circuit in France includes 5,500 hydrangeas of 550 different varieties! The walk begins in the shade of century-old trees, in an undergrowth of the lake, and continues for three kilometers. From June to September, the edge of the lake is colored with majestic flower balls and colored pink, blue and white. If you fall in love with these hydrangeas, you can buy them at the Hortensias du Haut Bois nursery in Taupont (it's just after the lake). Their collection includes more than 750 species in a park covering more than thirteen hectares. Open houses are held every year in July. And how can we finish this long presentation of our favorite spots (but we still have so much to discover...) without saying a word about Paimpont and the famous and magnificent Brocéliande forest, twenty kilometers after Ploërmel. In this high place of Arthurian legends hangs the presence of Merlin the Enchanter, the fairy Viviane and Lancelot du Lac. The largest forest massif in Brittany, covering more than 11,000 hectares, you can find a large number of remarkable trees and unforgettable places: the Château de Comper - legend has it that it was the residence of the fairy Viviane, the tomb of Merlin, the Val sans Retour, where Viviane held captive the unfaithful husbands who had ventured there (Lancelot, the valiant knight raised by the fairy, thwarted the spell by confronting the dragons and freed the prisoners.) The 11 km of the Les Landes de Gurwant hiking trail will take you to several legendary must-see sites: the Château de Trécesson (which can be visited in summer), the Hôtié de Viviane or the Tomb of the Giants. The Barenton fountain is one of the most legendary sites in the forest. Lost in the woods, this is where Merlin the Enchanter is said to have met Viviane. The water of this fountain sparkles with so-called magic bubbles. It is said to cure ringworm, soothe the insane and help young women find a husband...
