Courtyard Cabin

Take it easy at this unique, tranquil getaway. Nestled at the end of a peaceful dead-end road, this delightful retreat features a garden like courtyard & fire pit. Expansive windows bring the outdoors in, letting you feel immersed in nature while enjoying modern comfort. Just a stone's throw away from Wildcat Mountain State Park, canoeing at the Kickapoo River, the Elroy bike trail and Amish stores and bakeries. This cabin is for anyone looking to unplug & enjoy the beauty of the Driftless Area The space Our cabin was lovingly designed by Kathy and Dean and the outside was built by the Amish in 2022 and moved to our property where we finished the rest of it. It sits on a hill above our main house next to our old barn foundation. The original barn was built in 1889 and was part of a 200 acre milking parlor for many years. The main house for that milking parlor was not ours but is still down the road from us. We loved the barn but by the time we aquired it the back wall was being pushed in by the hill and after a number of years came to the point where we had to take it down for safety issues. We still love the foundation of it and were excited to incorporate it into your experience, we hope you love it too! There is a firepit in the "courtyard" for your enjoyment and a place to have a picnic or do some star gazing. A couple of notes of interest - This area of Southwest Wisconsin used to be called "God's Country". The table and the 2 benches on the front porch were made by our neighbor from some cedar trees from our woods. Guest access Guests have use of the entire cabin, both decks and the courtyard area. There is a grill on the back deck and a firepit in the courtyard. Other things to note We clean with natural cleaning supplies and don't use anything with harsh chemiclas or fake fragrances for those that are sensitive to that kind of thing. We are out in the country and although we try to keep bugs out with natural methods, some may still be rude intruders.
