You will enjoy our local restaurants, wineries, breweries, cafes/coffee roasters, and shops in Valparaiso's vibrant downtown. The space Originally built in 1934, The Jefferson House has been thoughtfully renovated over the years to blend its timeless architectural charm with all the conveniences of modern living. Located in the heart of downtown Valparaiso, this beautifully updated home is designed to accommodate up to 8 guests in style and comfort. KITCHEN: Step inside and you’ll be greeted by a spacious, light-filled interior featuring original details alongside elegant updates. The large, fully stocked kitchen is a chef’s dream—featuring a gas stove and oven, full-size refrigerator and freezer with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, air fryer, toaster, and an assortment of coffee options including a drip coffee machine, espresso machine, and single-serve coffee maker. We've also included an electric kettle and everything you need for cooking and baking: bakeware, cookware, crockpot, blender, and an immersion blender. Guests will appreciate the convenience of the reverse osmosis (RO) system for fresh drinking water, along with a deep sink, garbage disposal, and ample counter space for meal prep or entertaining. You'll find dishes and glasses for 8, kid-friendly dinnerware, and microwave- and dishwasher-safe plasticware for easy cleanup. Thoughtful extras like olive oil, salt, pepper, individual creamers (in the fridge), foil, plastic wrap, and zip-top bags are included to make you feel right at home. We also provide plenty of garbage bags, dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher pods, washcloths, and kitchen towels for your stay. KITCHEN ISLAND AND DINING AREA: The expansive kitchen island offers an additional 4 barstools, creating a casual and comfortable space for sipping coffee, sharing appetizers, or simply hanging out while meals are prepared. Just steps away, you will enjoy meals and memorable moments in the spacious dining area, which comfortably seats up to 8 guests around a large, stylish table—perfect for family dinners, game nights, or celebrating special occasions. Whether you're gathering for a holiday meal or a quick bite before heading out, this space is designed for connection and comfort. LIVING ROOM: The living room is a cozy, inviting space designed for relaxation and connection. It features plenty of comfortable seating, a large bay window that fills the room with natural light, and charming decor that adds to the home’s welcoming atmosphere. DOUBLE QUEEN BEDROOM: This beautifully appointed room features two comfortable queen beds, making it ideal for families, friends, or groups traveling together. Thoughtfully designed with convenience and comfort in mind, the space includes two full-size mirrors, iron and ironing board, dual closets for plenty of storage, and luggage racks for easy unpacking. Cheerful floral decor and vibrant blankets add a lively, colorful touch that makes the room feel fresh and inviting. BATHROOMS: The home offers two beautifully appointed full bathrooms and a stylish half bath, each designed for comfort and convenience. The first full bathroom features a tub/shower combination, along with a toilet and sink. Guests will find all the essentials provided, including shampoo, conditioner, body soap, cotton pads, cotton tips, toilet paper, tissues, hairdryer, and plenty of fresh towels and washcloths for your use. The master bathroom features a spacious walk-in glass and tile shower, double sinks, and a toilet. For added convenience, there is a half bath on the main floor, beautifully designed with modern wallpaper and a new marble vanity, paired with a sleek, brand-new toilet—perfect for quick freshen-ups. Featuring a stone countertop for folding and sorting, and a convenient drying rack for delicate items, it’s a space that combines both form and function. Whether you're doing a quick load or organizing your essentials, this well-equipped laundry room makes it all effortless and efficient. Detergent, dryer sheets, and dryer balls provided for your stay. BACKPORCH: Step out onto the spacious back porch—a perfect extension of the home designed for relaxation and gathering. This inviting outdoor space features a 65-inch TV, making it ideal for movie nights, game days, or streaming your favorite shows in the fresh air. Comfortable seating includes a cozy outdoor couch and multiple sitting areas, perfect for sipping coffee in the morning or unwinding in the evening with a glass of wine. An electric fireplace adds warmth and ambiance, creating a welcoming atmosphere year-round. Whether you're spending quiet time alone or enjoying the company of friends and family, the back porch is a guest favorite for laid-back lounging. TECHNOLOGY AND CONNECTIVITY: Stay connected and entertained during your stay with fast, reliable Wi-Fi throughout the home. Guests will have access to all streaming apps on the TV, such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and more—simply sign in with your personal accounts. For your privacy and security, you will be automatically signed out of all accounts on the day of check-out, ensuring a seamless experience for the next guest. Whether you're working remotely or enjoying your favorite shows, our tech setup is designed to meet all your needs. HEAT/AC: We have central air and heat. The thermostat is located next to the TV in the living room. Opening windows are an option, just remember to close them when leaving! SAFETY AND SECURITY: Your safety and peace of mind are important to us. The home is equipped with a Ring doorbell camera at the front entry for added security and guest awareness. Entry is easy and secure with a keyless smart lock on the back door, and each guest is provided with a unique access code for their stay (ACCESS CODE WILL BE EMAILED TO YOU). Please note that while we warmly welcome families, the home is not childproof, and adult supervision is required at all times for children. The second floor stairs are narrow and carpeted, please be mindful when walking up and down them! PLEASE NOTE: Every entrance to the house requires stairs (front or back). Please reach out to the host if you have more specific questions regarding accessibility. While the original gas fireplace adds to the room’s historic charm, please note it is not functional and is for DECORATIVE PURPOSES ONLY. Guest access Guest will have full access to the entire house and front/back yard with the exception of the basement. The basement door will be locked at all times with a keypad lock. The private driveway will fit at least 3 cars depending on size. There is also first come, first serve street parking free of charge. The garage is a combination of a garage/studio apartment. We have very kind long-term apartment renters whom you may see in passing entering their private gate and sidewalk. We have placed a "Private Entrance" sign on their gate and "The Jefferson House" sign on the Airbnb entry gate so no one gets confused. The garage is also locked and unavailable for guests. Most of the cabinets and ALL of the closets are available to guests except the laundry room cabinets as they are used for extra supplies and cleaning tools. Feel free to utilize anything else not listed!! Other things to note The Jefferson House sits in a very cute and quiet little neighborhood. All the neighbors have been very kind and helpful when needed. The property also host very kind, long-term renters. Behind the garage is a studio apartment. The garage and apartment are off limits to Airbnb guests. You will likely see them in passing during your stay! The gray house next door (west side) is also an Airbnb (in case you need two Airbnbs to host a vacation with multiple families!). Having said that, the neighboring Airbnb allow dogs, therefore you may meet short-term doggies during your stay! At the end of The Jefferson House driveway is a garage/studio apartment. Our lovely long-term renters also have a dog within their private fence space. The Jefferson House backyard is fully fenced in, but I am sure the doggies on both sides of our fence will enjoy visiting the fence lines.
