Stunning Views & Jurassic Coastal Walks
Description
Escape from the busy world and relax in this pretty stone cottage. Wake to birdsong, then sip your morning coffee on the window seat as it’s warmed by the winter sun. Admire St Catherine's Chapel from the cottage windows then follow the footpath up Chapel Hill to admire panoramic views over Abbotsbury, the Fleet Lagoon, Chesil Beach and the sea beyond. Descend the hill and take the South West Coast Path to the beach and relax to the sound of the waves lapping on the pebbles. A perfect place! The space The Cottage The traditional stone cottage greets you with roses climbing around the door. Situated on a quiet lane, just a few minutes' walk from the heart of Abbotsbury village and its amenities, there's no need for the car for your morning paper or milk. Abbotsbury Swannery (open March to October) is at one end of the lane and Abbey Farm Cafe, "Pick your own Flowers" and Artisan workshops are at the other. Country Kitchen The kitchen features charming quarry tiles and an open-plan pine staircase leading up to the lounge and dining area. A cozy small table for two offers a perfect spot for a quick breakfast or a cup of tea. A lovely welcome pack and kitchen essentials are provided, so you can quickly make yourself at home. Lounge & Dining Area (upstairs) Climb the pine staircase to the upstairs lounge, which offers extensive views across the rolling farmland to St Catherine's Chapel perched on the hill. The lounge is well-equipped for your comfort with a Smart TV, Wi-Fi with excellent reception, and a cupboard filled with games, drawing books, and puzzles which offer an escape from technology, computers and tablets. A double bed settee provides extra sleeping, allowing the cottage to accommodate four guests in total. Bedroom There is one bedroom (further sofa bed in the lounge) which presents the flexibility of either a spacious super-king bed (created by zip-linking the two singles together, as shown in the photo) or two comfortable single beds. The beds have comfortable mattresses with a topper to guarantee a good night's sleep and the large bright window has a peaceful outlook. Bathroom The downstairs bathroom maintains the cottage's traditional charm with a full bath with a traditional shower attachment mounted on the taps. Please note that due to the low wooden beam above the bath, there is no facility for a standing shower however, guests can enjoy a relaxing soak in the bath! Garden The established cottage garden overlooks farmland and has a spectacular view of St Catherine's Chapel. It's an idyllic setting for an afternoon tea or a peaceful evening drink. The Locality Step out onto a little lane which was used in a classic film adaptation of Far from the Madding Crowd! The landscape is "Hardy country " and has also been the backdrop for films such as "Tess of the Durbavilles". You'll find yourself just a short stroll from Abbotsbury's heart, which has two friendly pubs, several charming tearooms, a well-stocked farm shop for local produce, and a variety of independent galleries and artisan shops. With Bridport, Dorchester, and Weymouth all just 9 miles away, you have easy access to charming towns and pretty coastal spots. Spend a day at the iconic Durdle Door or the stunning Lulworth Cove, dive into history at Corfe Castle, or discover the exotic flora at Abbotsbury Sub-tropical Gardens.
