Pet friendly peaceful cottage beside Mellis Common

Our dog friendly cottage is set in peaceful, private surroundings on our smallholding . A perfect rural idyll set in its own garden it overlooks horses grazing and is on the edge of the largest grazing common in Suffolk . It is rich in wildflowers and there is plenty of choice for walking and cycling . The historic towns of Diss and Eye are under 5 miles and the Suffolk and Norfolk coasts , RSPB Minsmere , the Broads , Thetford FirNorwich , Bury St Edmunds , Newmarket are all under an hour away. The space There is a spacious open plan living area with sofa and lounge chair , stable door and double doors that open on to the terrace . This gives our guests a unique and private inside /outside experience so that they can be as immersed in their surroundings with the wildlife as they like . There is a stair gate provided for dog owners so that dogs can be kept from going upstairs . There are books ,games ,puzzles , local information, maps dvds , tv ( with Roku stick so that guests can access streaming through their own accounts for Netflix, Prime and other channels . Guests are asked to sign out of their accounts please before leaving for the privacy of others ). There is indoor and outdoor dining space . Kitchen - well equipped with electric hobs and oven , washing machine with airer, iron and board , toaster, cafetière ,microwave and under counter fridge with freezer box. Some essentials for a few days are provided - teas, coffee ,sugar , condiments , cooking oil and arrival snack. Bedroom - A 5ft kingsize bed with Hypnos mattress , extra pillows and blanket for comfort , full length mirror , hanging rail , chest of drawers and views across the countryside . Bathroom - An en-suite bathroom with basin, shower (115cm x 65cm ) with an adjustable head , heated towel rail , shaver socket, illuminated mirror . The oil central heating is controlled by a Hive system for your comfort and ease. Hot water is available 24/7. We are in a very hard water area so the water supply is softened except for the kitchen cold water tap which has been left un-softened for drinking water. All linen, towels , some toilet paper , soap, shampoo and conditioner , tea towels and washing liquid are provided. Should guests want to clean the bathroom during their stay we ask that they use the non abrasive and non bleach products that we supply in the cottage please . We are not on mains drainage here in the conservation area , so we make a conscious decision to look after our tank system and its environment . There is EV charging available . Please contact us in advance for cost and access if you require this . Guest access Guests have the use of the cottage and its orchard garden . Horses graze in the fields nearby so we ask that guests and their dogs keep to the cottage garden and clear up after them . Other things to note There is a shed in the cottage garden for bike storage should you want to bring your own or bikes and / or your own deck chairs . There is a small charcoal bbq with enough fuel to get you started and there are sun loungers ,outdoor table and chairs and a garden bench seat . In the winter months the bench seat will be stored away . EV charging available - please arrange this when making your booking.
