Our barn sits on an 80 acre estate with fab views of the Green Mts. near Middlebury/Burlington. Perfect for 2 adults and a child or grandparents/ 2 friendly couples. Close to skiing, hiking, lake & river swimming, great restaurants... local beer, wine, cheese!. Want yoga, pasta class, or massage? We will gladly hook you up. Or, you could stay in to read, work, and enjoy the serenity of the mountains. A very private garden patio for morning coffee/ afternoon beer or wine or awaits you. Come celebrate the good life in the hills of old Vermont...Celebrate the change of seasons in the North Country from Stowe to the Mad River Valley, from Lake Champlain to the top of the Green Mountains - you can experience it all from our place. Enjoy the incredible mountain views with coffee or drinks while cozy in the barn or on your own private garden terrace. Ask us for any spa, food experiences, or day trips you might want to take. Our very comfortable and beautifully appointed Barn Apartment is surrounded by gardens and breath-taking views (and your own private patio) on 80 very secluded acres. Nestled high in the Green Mountains, Lincoln is a peaceful world apart, yet Middlebury College and all its cultural resources is 18 miles away. The charming and super popular village of Bristol is 6 miles away: the wonderful little City of Vergennes, and the Burlington International Airport are within an hours' drive. Montreal is 2 1/2 hours to the north, Boston 4 hrs. south. For this fall and the upcoming winter months, we are very close to world-class skiing at Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, and The Middlebury College Snow Bowl and Reichert Ski Touring Center at Breadloaf Mountain. Numerous great restaurants, artisan cheese and bread makers and several flourishing Farmer's Markets are open year-round. It's a perfect spot for city-dwellers to kick back for a weekend in the country, or for putting up family members during College Reunions, Parent's Weekends, Homecoming and Graduations at Middlebury College. Numerous Brides and Grooms have chosen the Apartment for their honeymoons and many of their guests have stayed with us as well. Flowers for your honeymoon/special event? Please let us know how we can help you plan your perfect get-away. There are plenty of places to get well fed and caffeinated nearby. Bristol is home to the incomparable Mini Factory Bakery, and Snaps Diner as well as the Bobcat Cafe for local brew and Bistro Fare. For elegant dining, the village of Warren offers The Pitcher Inn - only 9 miles away via the Lincoln Gap, or down to New Haven for the best bouillabaisse ever at Tourterelle. Go to the Vergennes Laundry for superb coffee and pastries, fresh sourdough breads and sundries. Did I forget to mention Middlebury Chocolates, Daily Chocolate and Lu-Lu's small-batch ice cream in Vergennes, and all the local brews? Just ask, we will tell you about all the many ways to indulge your culinary cravings. We can accommodate two adults in a queen bed: there is a 2nd double bed to accommodate a child or another couple for an additional $50 dollars a night. (There is also a crib for your wee one.) Fresh linens, fresh coffee, teas and snacks are provided by us. We have a refrigerator, microwave, convection oven/air fryer, and simple stove top for cooking and big farm sink for clean-up downstairs. Canine friends are welcome only downstairs in the barn garage (the floor is heated and the space cozy), and are not allowed in the apartment. Bring kennel and or bed. Please be advised - If your pet cannot be out of your sight, the barn is not going to work for you... Guest access We are in the country, but it is easy to get anywhere from here. For good-weather Summer fun bring your bikes, kayacks, and swimsuits. Three major ski areas are 1/2 hour away: Sugarbush, MadRiver, Middlebury College Snow Bowl. Stowe is an hour north...Winter toys: we have sleds, snowshoes, gourmet treats for your dog! Bring skates, skis, and boards...Hiking and cross country trails are right out the front door... We supply you with coffee, special teas, a fridge and freezer, as well as coolers, a microwave, a fryer-oven and an induction stove-top burner. The kitchen is equipped for you to prepare your own meals with pots, pans, dish-ware, etc. There is a private garden patio for relaxing outside as well... Other things to note There is a rustic kitchen with table and chairs, a microwave, convection oven/air-fryer, fridge and coolers for food or bring your own. You are also welcome to use the gas grill for barbecue. PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR GPS when close to us, or you will end up off a dead-end road up the mountain! Please call us if you want directional advice from where you are. The Lincoln Gap Road (from the east on Route 100) is closed for the Winter, so you will take Route 125 (Middlebury Gap) or Rte. 17 (Appalachian Gap) to get to us from the east. YOU WILL NEED 4-WHEEL OR ALL-WHEEL DRIVE IN THE WINTER. From Bristol, VT: Go through Bristol on Rte.116/17 north. Immediately after two black bridges, go right onto the Lincoln Gap Road. (Coming south on 116 from Burlington, turn left before the first Black bridge in Bristol). Follow the road and the river 4 miles to Village of Lincoln and turn left (north) up Quaker Street between the Church and the General Store. Take the first right up Elder Hill, pass Elderberry Horse Farm where the road flattens out and take the FIRST AND ONLY right onto Orchard Rd. North (no street sign). Then take your FIRST AND ONLY LEFT at mailbox #379, through the stone walls, to our place. Park in front of the left barn garage door, walk round to the front of the barn, door to apartment is inside on the left. Please leave shoes, boots, equipment, and dogs downstairs... Bring slippers or house-socks!
