The space At heart of Kauman is the iconic Gedhe Kauman Mosque, built in 1773. This architectural masterpiece blends Javanese and Islamic elements, featuring towering teak pillars and a distinctive three-tiered roof. The mosque is not only a spiritual sanctuary but also a testament to centuries of religious and cultural history. Traditional Javanese houses, adorned with intricate batik motifs and classic woodwork, line the narrow alleys, offering a glimpse into the area’s authentic architectural charm. Whether you’re admiring centuries-old architecture, learning batik, or engaging with friendly locals, Kauman offers an immersive journey into Yogyakarta’s living heritage. Despite its central city location, Kauman retains a peaceful, village-like feel. SPACIOUS SEMI-OUTDOOR LIVING ROOM * Whether you are here to work, rest or play there are a variety of comfortable seats and tables available. PRIVATE POOL * Bring a bathing suit to cool off in your very own private pool after exploring the city’s attractions. Measuring 8x3 meter with both a shallow section (0.85m) and deep end (1.5m) the pool is suitable for all family members. EQUIPPED KITCHEN * The kitchen is complete with gas stove, fridge, basic cooking equipment and utensils. Complimentary drinking water, coffee and teas are provided. 4 DOUBLE BEDROOMS * Accommodating up to 8 guests. The villa offers two airconditioned rooms and two rooms with ceiling fans in the traditional Joglo. All with double beds. 3 BATHROOMS * The two airconditioned bedrooms come with en suite bathrooms. The two bedrooms in the Joglo share a third bathroom. There is also an outside shower for use with the pool. Guest access The entire Villa is yours during your stay. CAR PARKING * Motor vehicles are unable to enter the kauman area Parking is therefore available at the Gedhe Mosque parking area which is just a 3 minute walk (200 meters) from the villa. Our team will be waiting for you at the parking area to assist with parking your car and guide and assist you to the villa. This is a 24-hour public parking area therefore please avoid leaving any valuables inside your car. Parking fees for up to two cars a night of registered guests are included in the booking fee. Any outside visitors are subject to the parking fee. MOTORBIKE PARKING * Motorbikes can be parked in the villa. Guests are kindly asked to turn off their engines and push the motorbike to the villa from the many access points to Kauman to avoid disturbing the neighbors. Other things to note NO BREAKFAST * Whilst we do not provide breakfast, the kitchen comes well equipped and there are also many local eateries nearby. NO EXTRA BEDS * We are unable to provide extra beds at this property. NOT PET FRIENDLY * We cannot accommodate pets. SCOOTER AND CAR RENTAL * We can assist you with scooter and car rental. LINEN AND TOWELS * Linen and towels receive a refresh every two days unless requested otherwise. EARLY CHECK-IN * Early check-in is not available. LATE CHECK-OUT * Late check-out is not available. LUGGAGE DROP-OFF * We do not have storage space available to accommodate luggage before check-in or after check-out. NOISE * As we are located in a residential area we would like guests to mindful of our neighbors and keep the noise to a minimum after 9pm. If you are unfamiliar with staying in Java we would like to inform you that calls for prayer start early and happen 5 times daily. These are short and we ask guests to be prepared for this cultural experience.
