All electric stone cottage with two double bedrooms, ideal for walkers and cyclists. On the C2C and Pennine Way, a quarter of a mile from Garrigill with quaint village shop and Post Office and 3 miles from the small town of Alston, reputedly the highest market town in England. Alston has pubs, cafes and shops to enjoy as well as a heritage railway and plenty of walks. Parking for one car at the front, cosy for a large SUV or pickup. The front garden is currently a ‘work in progress’. The space Spacious and well equipped cottage with log burners. The cottage could never be described as minimalist or modern, it’s full of artworks, books and curios. The front garden is a work in progress and will possibly be returfed this year. Please bear in mind that the altitude is quite high and on the Pennines so it’s often rainy and can be chilly. Bring walking boots and waterproofs - just in case! Guest access Use the whole place and you’re welcome to use anything in the kitchen. There are a couple of jigsaws, games and packs of cards in the living room dresser. There’s robes in the wardrobes and some slippers in the larger bedroom wardrobe if you forget to bring some. In the event of a power cut there are candles. There’s olive oil, salt and pepper, teabags, coffee, sugar in the kitchen and a rather random selection of herbs and spices. Other things to note This cottage is all electric with a heat pump and solar panels, there’s no gas in the property. This is one of 2 cottages that were put together as 1 - you will probably hear footsteps and the dog will probably bark. Please note that the bathroom is on the ground floor - there’s a lamp on a timer that comes on at night. There’s parking for one car at the front and a small lay-by a minute away towards the village and more parking in Garrigill 1/4 mile away. Please note that there are no takeaways for food delivery in Alston, food is available in a couple of pubs but they tend to close the kitchens at around 9pm. Supermarkets (Tesco, Morrisons; Waitrose; Sainsbury’s etc) will deliver. The Co Op and Spar shops are open until 10ish. There’s an electric charging point at the gym in Alston and 2 garages (Spar and Moredun) in Alston with good price fuel.
